Reality Fans!
Listen, I have always watched TLC ( The Learning Channel) reality television to a certain extent but I must admit for some reason I tended to lean towards Bravo more.
Well,Things are changing. Bravo has lost some steam for me and It lacks programming choices. TLC offers a wide variety and less drama. In addition, they really do take the approach that they are informing us (the viewer) about 'the subject' of the show. If you watch TLC programming you don't get the feeling they are exploiting their Reality characters. You get the feeling that TLC is trying to offer the viewer a realistic view about the life being explored without demeaning the Reality castmember.
Have you ever watched Hoarders? I mean I just want to shake the person but the way TLC presents the episode they really try to get the viewer to understand the Hoarder's problem. Now, I am not saying I get Hoarding but I do believe TLC tries to teach, unlike Bravo, who exploits their castmembers!
Another example, Extreme Couponing! I mean I want to shake those people and say, "Hello, you are wasting and becoming Hoarders, dah?" In addition, eventually, manufacturers are going to stop with the coupons and we all lose because of these crazies, oh, that was mean, I should be learning but I swear the Extreme Couponers, well, they are nuts and on the brink of heading into a Hoarding show!!
Then, there is Sister Wives, trying to teach us about Polygamy, some of us may not understand it but TLC is attempting to debunk some wild theories!
Oh, and 19 Kids and Counting! Is it so hard to imagine a happy, religious family? TLC examines this lifestyle and it might not be for everyone but this family is happy and what is interesting to me is to see how Americans feel so threatened by such a family? Yet, we think nothing of the dysfunction on MTV (Jersey Shore) and Bravo (The Real Housewives).
The Little People help us realize the difficult lives for people with disabilities and yet it is a very uplifting show!
Of course, TLC has their drama filled shows! Cake Boss! Say Yes to the Dress! Four Weddings! Yeah, those don't even come close to The Real Housewives. These shows are still delightful and we learn!!
Oh, I do love the way everyone goes nuts over Toddlers and Tiaras! Hey, all you parents that push your kids into sports and go crazy with extra curricular crap, yeah, not much difference! Yeah, really, so be careful with the judging!
OK, maybe there is a difference! LOL
My all time Favorite is What Not to Wear! Gosh, I can't tell you how many times Stacey and Clinton have entered my head while shopping!
So, I have jumped ship and lightened my mood! I am enjoying Reality Television but I am making it ENLIGHTEN me not drag me down!
I need a break from sillyass women fighting over, um, what? So, I pop in on BRAVO here and there, goodness knows they run their crap over and over enough LOL. For instance, I haven't watched The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Monday episode yet? Was it good? I will catch on one of their many Marathons!
So do you watch any shows on TLC? If so which one is your favorite? Which one do you like the least?
