The Real Housewives of New York!
This Episode centered on Birthday Parties!
So, let us just chit chat about the Birthday Parties!
Jill Zarin's Surprise Party
Jill Zarin had nice cozy surprise party. I think we were told LuAnn planned most of the party. Jill wrote in her blog that Cindy helped LuAnn. Oh, and as a side note, I will be upfront and let you know I read all the Housewives blogs, except Ramona's. As I have started this blog Ramona had yet to post a blog. Typically, I do not read blogs before writing and I have not read any other blogs, just the HOUSEWIVES in regards to this episode. Okay, back to the episode!
The restaurant looked cool but to small for the amount of people. Listen, you have to know your numbers and then use the proper venue. Therefore, eventhough I am sure the place is great and the food was awesome it just looked cramped and hard for people to mingle. Ramona made her observations in her Bravo interview not the night of the party. Just pointing out when the remarks were made about the party.
I thought LuAnn and Ramona were very rude to the magician and couldn't figure out why? Mario was gracious and covered for both ladies behaving badly! It is funny because I think Mario is really a gentleman and it seems that Jill brings out the worse in him.
Jill was in her glory and why not, it was a party for Jill. I think LuAnn with the help of Cindy was trying to give Jill a moment on television of honoring her and wanting the fans to see that Jill has friends and family that love her. This was designed to make Jill look better after last season. Listen, I have no doubt Jill has her close friends and family that have stood behind her but unfortunately for Jill that doesn't make people automatically like her.
Which leads me slightly off topic. I think the Sonja scene was designed to make Jill look better. Jill made sure to write in her blog that her sister was willing to take the train into New York City and offer Sonja free advice on or off camera. Funny how it was filmed and Jill was part of the scene? Yes, Lisa was offering her expert advice but with Jill sitting there Sonja couldn't divulge any private information nor would she with the cameras rolling. Therefore, the scene was ultimately for Jill. Sonja, smartly used the scene to inform the viewers that she took a business risk and it went sour. Before Sonja knew it she was in a lot of financial trouble. Sonja wanted the viewers to know it was not her being careless with her spending.
Now we all know Sonja could have done all of that with a scene with her meeting her own lawyers or financial advisers. In addition, lawyers to do free consultations for family and friends and then if they take on the case it sometimes changes to paid, trust me it doesn't always remain, pro bono! Goodness I am rambling. In the end, who knows what could have been all the motives behind the scene but make no mistake Jill is doing everything this season to look like she is a person who wants to help a 'friend' or even an acquaintance.
Poor Jill she is really working hard to recover from Season 3!
Back to the surprise birthday party! Ramona jumped out first and hugged Jill! Did you see where Ramona was standing when Jill walked in? To me, that is Ramona, over the top and the party girl. Why didn't LuAnn and Cindy step up in front? Kelly rattling on and on that she was late? Who cares? Furthermore, what's new? Cindy dressing up and reading the silly poem, OKAY, whatever.

Kelly wrote in her blog that she wrote the poem and Cindy was stepping in for her! I guess Kelly was afraid Cindy would get the credit. "Hey, Kelly you should have let Cindy get the credit LOL" Poor Ramona, I thought she missed the mark with her impersonation of Jill but it wasn't as bad as the promos teased!

Of course, the highlight of the evening, NOT,well, kind of, was Ramona saying she thought a drag queen was coming down the steps and it was LuAnn. I could have died. LuAnn really needs to look at herself in the mirror and for god's sake will someone tell her to stop singing!
Jill whined her blog that Bravo cut out her sister's song to her and the portrait of her dog given to her by Cindy,LuAnn and Kelly. My God, Poor Ally, a dog beat her out, now that is beyond sad. Talk about creepy! I love my two dogs but I much rather have a portrait of my two children any day over my dogs!

Onto the Two Sweet Sixteen Parties!
Through out the episode I was tweeted which party I thought was better? Here was my answer.
I think both parties looked great, they suited each girl, they are two different young ladies!
Now, that being said, I of course have some comments on the planning. Both girls are different and have different relationships with their mothers. I don't feel one is necessarily better than the other. Avery and Ramona do a lot together. Therefore, they planned it together but Avery is headstrong and she wants what she wants and she gets what she wants. I think Avery is a little snotty and needs to learn some manners. It was fine she did not like the event planner's ideas but there is a much better way to shoot down ideas and at a young age it looks bratty, not cute like Bethenny.
On the other hand, I think LuAnn and Victoria are close but LuAnn allows Victoria more freedom. In addition, Victoria seems more laid back and she seemed to give an overall statement of what she wanted and then let LuAnn take care of the rest.
Overall, they were two different type of parties and yet the same. Both girls wanted a 'club' vibe! They are 16! Anyway, One included adults (they had a separate area) and the other did not. I always had ONE party for my children therefore family was at the KID party or vice versa however you want to say it LOl. The adults knew how to mingle properly and then exit to allow them space. Kelly has younger children and had no business interfering. Sometimes, as an adult, you have to know when to let a child vent and leave it at that, just venting!
I did disagree with LuAnn leaving her daughter's party. My children were not allowed to attend parties if the parents were not there. I was tweeted that at sixteen kids should be able to handle themselves and that their parents left them and they turned out fine. Unfortunately, in my neck of the woods, 'prescription' parties are the fad. I trust my children but I didn't want them in a situation they couldn't handle at sixteen. In neighboring suburbs we have had children die at these parties because the kids chose not to call 911. Why? They feared getting into trouble, so they left or Worse, they were unsure the child was that bad so they thought he/she would sleep it off. We all like to believe we have raised great kids that will never be at such a party but we don't know that and typically if a parent is home to at least 'pop in' the basement (or hangout room) it helps make the kids think twice. In addition, if they still do the wrong thing while the parents are upstairs, well, sometimes the adults hear the commotion, or the fear in the kids talking or you get lucky and a kid thinks to reach out to the parents because they are there.
I was blessed, my kids never went down the dangerous road but my kids were called to rush some of their friends to safety. We thank God they woke us up and asked us for assistance, twice the parents were not home and our kids turned to us, their parents, who were home. Those kids made one mistake, they lived and they never did it again and the parents thought they had raised 'good kids.' I would argue,They did raise 'good kids' but sometimes 'good kids' make one bad choice, no one is perfect.
So sorry to rattle. I am incredibly passionate about parenting and teaching.
Anyway, I found Jill and Kelly to be very critical about Avery's party? I can understand Jill saying that Ramona turned it into a Nightclub. I agree. Ramona did make a big deal that Victoria's was at a Nightclub and Jill was right, Ramona's venue looked like an upscale nightclub. Personally, I have no problem with either girl's venue. They are sixteen. They see the nightclub scenes. If Ramona was against a nightclub vibe then she needed to put her foot down and she did not. On the other hand, I completely disagree with Kelly and Jill making a big deal about adults being there and alcohol. The room was off to the side. No children were allowed. It seemed to be handled fine. The problem with Americans is this shielding of alcohol with our young. If we didn't make it so taboo, well, maybe we wouldn't have the problems we have? The Europeans think we are nuts. Anyway, that is another debate. Once again, it is all about adult supervision and how it is handled.
Of course, the big story of the night on Twitter and for some bloggers was about Bobby's comment to Simon. Many of you who read this blog or follow me on Twitter, also follow the blogger that Bobby was clearly referring too. The Blog, "I Hate Jill Zarin" by LynnNChicago. It is written by Lynn Hudson and she is based in Chicago. On twitter Lynn goes by LynnNChicago. Lynn does have someone who writes on the blog with her now, they go by Quincy. I frequently tweet her blog posts to read. I have watched the "I Hate Jill Zarin" by LynnNChicago blog evolve but make no mistake Lynn can't stand Jill. I was around when the blog started and Lynn would be the first to admit the blog was based on the disliking of Jill and then moved onto disliking Kelly.
Overtime, the Blog has grown, like so many bloggers. I know that Lynn has wanted to grow her blog and she has been working hard to expand. I will not tell a lie, many moons ago I had dreams of taking Real Fans Club to a different level but I just didn't want to put the time and effort into it. Oh, and there are so many great blogs out there that I didn't even want to begin to compete with them. Instead, I read them and tweet them!!
Now, Lynn has interviewed housewives and gone to book signings and she does a podcast. The "I Hate Jill Zarin" Blog by LynnNChicago is no longer just about disliking Jill. I am glad that Lynn is continuing with the success that she has wanted to gain for herself and her blog. I have watched many bloggers start slow and take it big!!!
Now, back to the episode and Bobby Zarin. This might just shut my site down but I have always been an honest blogger and I won't stop now LOL. My husband would have done the same thing with Simon that Bobby did! If you are married,or have a soulmate take a moment and ask yourself how they would feel if so called friends of yours was 'hanging out' with a person who has a blog named 'I Hate and fill in your name.'
Please, don't get me wrong,Lynn has every right to have the blog. She has the right to write her opinions. Simon and Alex have every right to hang out with Lynn but they should realize that there will be repercussions. I love that people say, "I HAVE the RIGHT" Yes, you do have the right but others have the right to react to your RIGHT!
Now, I understand Bobby thought Simon was an owner or writer or somehow behind the blog. Honestly, I think Simon is playing with words. We know Simon has nothing to do with 'the blog', administratively speaking, but Simon and Alex did do an event with Lynn. In addition, they knew how the event would play out on Lynn's blog. Simon and Alex are trying to claim this would require them to have to watch every blogger and tweeter. I disagree. I think everyone is playing with words at this point. We all make our choices. The name of the Blog is brilliant for many reasons. In addition, it did start out as a vent blog about Jill. It has evolved overtime but make no mistake there is no love for Jill on the blog. AND there doesn't have to be it is Lynn's blog. No one tells me what to write on my blogs.
Here is what I do find sad. Jill can't let the blog go. Personally, if I was Jill I would not have even mentioned it with Simon and Alex BUT I would have just remained cordial friends because whether Simon and Alex believe it or not a true friend wouldn't hob nob with a person who created a Hate Blog about their friend. Simon and Alex cannot get around their actions. As Far As Bobby goes, well, he is sticking up for his wife and you know what is funny, we know damn well that Simon and Alex stick up for each other so they should understand.
Anyway, I am sure Lynn is thrilled to know that she has gotten under Jill Zarin's skin this much and even better it made it on air! I would say this was Andy Cohen's shout out to Lynn!
I am sure Lynn doesn't read my blog but I am happy she has reached a goal of hers!! It is fun to watch bloggers grow and make their dreams come true!
Lucy!
