The Real Housewives of Orange County!
Peggy Getting Ready for Dinner Party!
We begin with the Bentley pulling into the garage and the camera pans to Micah outside giving directions setting up the table. We, then see Peggy walk in with the favorite look of Orange County housewives that are not in full make up. You know, the baseball cap that covers the hair and the face plus the traditional jeans with a tank top along with bra straps hanging out. Micah continues to give orders and he enters the kitchen to 'ask' the two celebrity chefs, Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Miliken both co-chefs and co-owners of Border Grill as they are busily working if they have everything they need. They assure him everything is great and next we see Peggy getting all dolled up for the evening. While her hair and makeup are being expertly applied by Lori, the makeup artist, Peggy fills airtime by announcing Micah's name brand jacket, Gucci, and then the makeup artist, Lori asks, "What watch is that?" Micah retorts "My Breitling, my favorite." Peggy, of course has to throw in, "He wanted it to match with the Bentley." I swear Peggy has to refer to the Bentley in every episode and I thought the Bentley was HER CAR, so why would his watch match HER CAR?? Wasn't the Bentley a 'push' gift or something like that?? Oh well, I have digressed and Honestly, I thought the scene felt scripted. Peggy's interview seems just as scripted. She rattles on about how Micah and her have an annual dinner party every year for their closest friends and they love to entertain and they have gone all out for the party and she knows that 'the women' tend to have drama when they get together but she his hoping they leave it at the door and, blah, blah, blah! Talk about a setup!!!
Anyway, We all know that when you force a bunch of women to get together that don't particularly like each other all that well, drama will find it's way into the evening, LOL!!!
Gretchen getting Dolled Up!
Alright, the scene is Gretchen going to 'The Living Room' to have her hairdresser, Victor, do her hair and makeup for Peggy's dinner party or Wine Pairing, whatever. Gretchen informs Victor what event she is going to and he asks if Tamra is bringing Eddie. Gretchen says it should be interesting. But, c'mon Gretchen's interview cracked me up.
I love the fact that Gretchen and Tamra don't hold back but I find one lady to be a little better at being funny and not as cruel and the other can cross over to mean quite quick. No doubt both ladies can be big Witches with a capital B but I just think Gretchen has better wit and timing than Tamra. Onto Gretchen and her interviews. She starts with cracking on the fact that she just can't fathom the idea of anyone wanting to go out with Tamra. Oh, Gretchen, you are out for blood! Gretchen says, " You might as well light yourself on fire!" In reference to it being fun to dating Tamra, YIKES, now those are fighting words!!
So much fun for us fans! LOL
The scene continues with Gretchen explaining that Slade is not going to the party because he is staying home with his boys. Victor asks, "Are you going to marry him?" Gretchen sighs and Victor says, "You know I am going to keep asking" and then I think we, the viewers, get a little honesty out of Gretchen. Gretchen explains that she knows Slade's reputation for being a deadbeat Dad and she does not want that reputation to reflect back on her. In addition, she attempts to explain that Slade is working on his financial situation and the child support issues but it still frustrates her. I think some of us have been there before, right? You know, We love someone that is having issues and we don't know how long to wait it out?? You know, just not sure how long to see if they can get their shit together? As far as Slade is concern? I don't know the entire story and I don't trust everything I read. I do know that many people have been hurt by the economic situation of the last few years and men that are older sometimes have it harder when rebounding. It is not easy finding a job and definitely not in this market, just saying. It does seem like the mothers of the boys allow the children around Slade and that says a lot to me. Typically, deadbeat Dads have nothing to do with their children and the moms don't allow any contact but then again, I don't have all the facts. All I can say is I felt for Gretchen, she seems to be genuinely torn.
Tamra introduces Eddie to Vicki!
The scene starts with Tamra finishing dressing for the party. Honestly, Tamra says something about her nipples and I wasn't going to play it back because I found it odd the first time I watched it I didn't want to view it again LOL. Phew, so, off to Vicki's!! In the Limo Tamra preps Eddie, well kind of sort of. She says, "Vicki has been traveling and she will be either low key, or all woo-hoo let's party or she will lecture you, like 'don't treat my friend bad'." Eddie just sits and listens like a good little doggy and then the camera pans away to just the Limo cruising along and we hear Eddie say, "This is going to be fun tonight." I am thinking, "This guy just says anything to look good on camera."
Tamra and Eddie arrive at Vicki's! Don greets them at the door with a party attitude and this seems to make Tamra all happy!!
They head into the kitchen to get liquored up while waiting for Vicki to finish "doing her thing" as Don puts it. The scene gets a tad bit weird here because Tamra feels the need to slam Slade and Simon while talking with Don and Eddie. I just don't get it?? I can understand Simon a tad bit! Why Slade?? At that moment no one was talking about Gretchen in the scene so why bring him up?? It just felt unnatural. In addition, why do divorced women feel the need to constantly compare the EX with the new guy to THEIR FACE?? Tamra brings up Simon A LOT and it makes me wonder if she is REALLY AND TRULY over him?? When you move on don't you stop talking about the person you claim to be over??? Tamra doesn't need to point out that Eddie and Simon are different, people will figure it out on their own, right?? If I was Eddie it would bother me. Again,The Slade thing was just odd. It truly did not fit at that moment. Maybe it was EDITING, I am sure that would be the claim, right LOL!!!
Anyway, I get that Tamra and Gretchen can't stand each other and I understand why. I can see them talking shit about each other if someone is talking about them but for Tamra to just bring up Slade for no reason is odd, don't you think?? Well, it gets better when Vicki hits the room but I must say I do understand her gossiping with Vicki about Gretchen and Slade more than I do with Eddie and Don.
Listen, I will be the first to admit I gossip with friends. Yes, I know it is not nice but I will tell you one thing we don't gossip about, people down on their luck. Vicki and Tamra have no idea what Slade is trying to do in his life and God knows the INTERNET is not the BE all and END all of information. I certainly hope for Vicki and Tamra's sake that they never have to experience a financial set back. You know, Vicki acts like she has it all but any industry can get hit at any time and a person should be careful when making fun of another person's struggles. Another thing, Vicki has employed her own son and she might want to keep her mouth shut because if mommy wasn't keeping him working what would Michael be doing?? He seems to be a bit of a slacker. Oh, and Tamra gets money from????? I don't even want to know LOL. My point, I understand they don't like Slade and gossiping is what, we, the viewers like I just wish that maybe they stuck to Slade's looks or how he kisses up to Gretchen or even if they think he is using her a bit but joking that he can't get a job I just don't find funny. The economy is tough and they have no idea what Slade is really struggling through. Oh, and if I needed a job to put food on the table I would work at McDonald's, I am not too good for any job. Working for a living is important and when you need to make ends meet you work where you are needed and you work hard for your paycheck. I respect the people working at McDonald's way more than I respect Reality Stars. I mean think about it for a moment??? The people at McDonald's are actually working!!!!
The Dinner Party!
The Calm before the Storm!
Gretchen enters first with Jack. Gretchen oohs and ahhhs over the house and the dinner party setup. I agree it was beautiful. Border Grill did a fabulous job!!! Gretchen in her interview got all caught up on her words to describe the scene. She tried to say it look eloquent but that is not the correct adjective to describe a room she meant elegant and it did look elegant. Sometimes you just need to keep it simple and say, Peggy's home looked beautiful, gorgeous, fabulous or exquisite and people get the point!
Peggy seemed upset that Slade did not show up??? Not sure why? They all seem to dislike Slade so why so offended??
Oh and Peggy seemed tense. For someone who claims to entertain she just seemed very tense!
Vicki and Tamra Riding in the Limo!
More Gossiping!! Now these two move onto Alexis and Jim. Tamra and Vicki seem to be very concern with everyone's finances?? Can't help but wonder if these two would enjoy the ladies digging around in their personal shit LOL. Anyway the speculation is that Alexis and Jim can't afford their home and Vicki is dying to know if Jim works because according to Vicki if you don't work then you might as well DIE and not exist on earth. Personally, I am glad work does not define me. Actually, I think you should enjoy your work but it is just that WORK. When you die no one will care how many hours you spent at the office or how much money you made but your friends and family will remember the time spent with you. I have a feeling Vicki will die a lonely woman if she doesn't change her lifestyle soon. Anyway, Vicki and Tamra are just gossiping but it just seemed a little mean to me. I know most of us tend to do it and I have been there but I guess I just don't gossip in such a viscous manner with my girlfriends anymore, I did that in High School and college now that I am in my Forties I find it is petty and cruel.
The Dinner Party!
Alexis enters without Jim! Peggy asks, "Where's Jim?' Oh, wait after she tells Alexis she is beautiful and asks is that 'your dress'. Alexis stutters that Jim has to work and Peggy counters, "You have known for a month" and Alexis is all like, "Well, things come up and yeah." Stutter and more stuttering. Alexis seemed taken off guard and Peggy seems way too upset over Jim not coming??? Who cares?? That would never bother me nor would I jump a guest of mine like that. But, to make matters worse Peggy gossips about it with Tamra and Vicki. I must say when I host a party I do not engage in gossip about one of my guests while they are in my home. Who does that?? Oh, an ORANGE COUNTY HOUSEWIFE LOL
Of course Bravo breaks away to interviews and the fun begins. Vicki cracks that Slade did not show to the party the same day the press broke about him being a deadbeat Dad. Yeah, well, seeing how supportive that crowd was going to be I don't blame Slade for not showing up LOL. I do think that Vicki is correct but I don't blame him one damn bit! Tamra cracks about Jim not showing up and she insinuates that she believes there are problems in the marriage and she seems happy about the thought, now that is evil, sorry but that is just mean.
Okay, how to break another dinner party from hell down!
Let's start with everyone is now at the party and they begin with an opening song. I am not going to even bother with the lady's name but Peggy wanted to get her friend from Philly on national television so the woman flew in to sing at the dinner party and all I flipping remember is having to watch Tamra and Eddie make out, GROSS. I am sick of watching these two suck face!!! Oh, and I hate to tell you this but it only gets a lot worse!! So, we watch the Suck Face and thank God it was one song and they sit down to eat.
Off to the table we go!!!
Gretchen's escort cracks a joke that Tamra found Eddie at "999-Salsa" and Gretchen laughs loudly while repeating part of the joke. Tamra says, "Yeah, I heard that" Tamra should have ignored it. Of course, Tamra acts like a High School girl and tells her best friend Vicki and then her boyfriend. I loved the way Eddie told her to ignore it, hmmm I think Simon use to tell her the same thing, right???
The camera pans to Peggy and Micah kissing. Okey Dokey!!! Then Peggy grabs a wine glass and says, "Cheers thanks everyone for coming!"
Don says in a whisper to Vicki, "Gretchen looks like that lady from the Munsters." Vicki loudly says, "Oh no you didn't just say that" and then he leans over to Tamra and says, "Gretchen looks like that lady from the Munsters because she is wearing those red lips." Tamra laughs and laughs and then Don says, "Oh, and Pee Wee is here." Oh, and Tamra laughs harder and then Peggy the dumbass makes the rude behavior more noticeable by stating loudly that something is going on over there. Listen, I didn't find Don, Vicki or Tamra's behavior funny, cute or hysterical. The young guy that came with Alexis had nothing to do with all of their in-fighting and to call him Pee Wee Herman, wow, how rude. Words hurt and this new thing about talking shit in front of people, well, sucks. I guess I am old fashion but sometimes saying it behind closed doors is better because why hurt a person intentionally??? Oh, and grown adults whispering and giggling at a dinner party, WOW!! But, it does make for good television, so hey I can't complain too much and if they enjoy making asses of themselves on national television more power to them.
Alright, so the chefs bring out a course that has an aphrodisiac in it and Peggy has to state none is needed her guy is Greek and she has two babies, okey dokey. The kissing starts and then Tamra and Eddie have to start the smooching and I am thinking DEAR LORD I am so glad I don't have to suck face with my husband at dinner parties to prove we still 'got it'. I guess that is what older women with younger guys feel they must do?? Although, this is also when Alexis goes into full meltdown. Guess she was bumming she had no one to suck face with?? I just didn't get why Alexis couldn't get control of her emotions but I was more baffled with Vicki and Tamra feeling the need to bash her. Vicki, we all know you don't need or want Don. Oh, and Tamra, you divorced Simon so of course you wanted to go dinners without him but now you go to dinners with Eddie and Suck face all night in front of everyone, so the question is how would you have felt if you were there without your suck face buddy???
Anyway, Alexis definitely overreacts but neither Peggy or Micah, the hosts of the party, check on her? Nope, they ridicule her and then they pick on the gentleman that Alexis brings. Micah calls him Jim's stunt double, oh, Micah you are so witty and way to make a person feel comfortable in your home! I guess, I feel Peggy and Micah should have made him feel welcome and comfortable in their home and then one of them should have quietly checked on Alexis. In addition, they should have distracted the quests from Alexis missing from the table. I would have covered for Alexis. That is what a good host does. Tamra listening at the bathroom door wrong, no if and or buts, just wrong and immature.

Peggy and Micah were BAD hosts, just bad. Alexis needed to get her shit together and Gretchen was the only true friend.
The digging didn't stop with Alexis!! NOPE, Tamra had to get a dig in about a man taking care of his kids which chased Gretchen away from the table. Bravo cuts away to Gretchen stating, "That they always make uneducated and uninformed comments about stuff they know nothing about. And I am sick of it." I think that Gretchen did the best thing and walked away from the table.
Alexis was missing way too long and she hit the rude mark early on but listen shit happens at parties and sometimes meltdowns occur. Obviously,Tamra and Vicki are not the women to be around when having an off night. Gretchen was trying to help get Alexis back on track! When Gretchen helped Alexis with her makeup this led Vicki to make a scene about 'powdering her nose' but I think Vicki was desperate to block out the conversation that had just taken place which was way more interesting.

From what I could gather,Vicki and Don had marriage issues from day one. For whatever reason Don did not want children with Vicki and that hurt Vicki deeply. Not the way to start a marriage and certainly a hurt that does not go away. These two were doomed from the get go, how sad.
Anyway, Alexis makes it back for dessert and is emotional but Alexis gets no sympathy. I mean NONE, they don't even FAKE sympathy, gosh my friends have better manners. Peggy claims she was fabulous all night and honestly I missed FABULOUS Peggy LOL To make matters worse, Peggy attempts to have a deep conversation with Alexis when she returns from the bathroom. Um, Not sure why a host would start badgering a person that just got back from a MELTDOWN?? If you are trying to keep YOUR PARTY light you don't start or continue with a deep conversation. As a host, I float and keep things light. Geez, I think I should give these ladies party etiquette lessons and I don't even have that many parties LOL
I swear I thought this party would never flipping end but I must say for THIS Housewife fan it was fun. Not too much drama, just enough to keep it interesting and no screaming or assaults!!!
Now, hang in there we are just about to the end of this Dinner Party!!!
We get to watch Micah do a magic trick, I do not tell a lie!!! The best part are the cutaways to Tamra and Gretchen not the stupid trick! Tamra says, "We got the magic trick,we got the clowns, we got the singer, this whole party is starting to feel like a three ring circus." And Gretchen says, "Too bad he can't go poof and make Tamra disappear, now that would be magic."
We get to hear the Singer again and of course this leads to more kissing. We get a cutaway to Alexis realizing that this group of women suck. HIGH FIVE!! They laughed while she was hurting. Alexis realizes Peggy is NO FRIEND and Gretchen turns out to be her only friend!
I love watching because Tamra and Vicki are true mean girls at the ripe old age of 40 something. Oh, and Tamra should be happy because Vicki gave Eddie the thumbs up!! We all know how important that is for the minion of the Queen!!
Vicki and Tamra ride home in the Limo!
Vicki and Tamra seem to find Alexis' pain hysterical. They just can't understand her missing her husband. I have been married for almost 23 years. I have attended dinner parties without my husband and it sucks when it is a couple party. I know how Alexis felt. I would not have behaved in that manner and I would have left. Using illness as an excuse but the fact that Vicki and Tamra can't understand at all probably explains why these two women have trouble staying married. I believe both Vicki and Tamra have two failed marriages. Therefore, It is hard to laugh with Vicki and Tamra. These women are not exactly two women I would turn to for marriage advice. Yes, Alexis needs to handle situations without Jim but I do believe it ran deeper than just being out to dinner without Jim. I think the company had a lot to do with it.
I have more fun watching adults who are willing to humiliate themselves for us just to make a few bucks!!! They are laughing all the way to the bank and I rather put money in my bank account without selling my soul!! But, that is what makes the world go round we all have a different perspective and standard!!
