The.eal Housewives of New York City!
All I can say is this past episode was crazy! And, here is the even CRAZIER thing, when Kelly Killoren Bensimon says the most sane comment of the episode then you KNOW the New York Housewives have turned upside down this season. I mean you have Kelly making sense?? WOW!! LuAnn de Lesseps cracking funny one liners. DOUBLE WOW!! Now, Jill was still Jill! Oh, and Ramona was Ramona, two constants, phew!
BUT, then, Sonja and Alex were big time divas!!!
The new gal, Cindy, not much going on with her but I think we are getting the setup for a Ramona escapade down the line with the two of them? You thinking the same thing??
Anyway, let's get to the crux of the episode, shall we? Sonja and Alex! In my opinion BOTH LADIES were WRONG!!! Both ladies were having DIVA moments in their own little ways!!! Let me try to explain my thoughts.
Here seemed to be the deal. There was a Marriage Equality March taking place in New York City. The March wanted to get noticed and therefore they reached out to the Housewives KNOWING and HOPING it would get filmed. Alex was on the HOSTING committee, and unbeknownst to Alex the CHARITY reached out to Sonja too. Now, Sonja agreed to be GRAND MARSHALL but it seems to me that Sonja was UP FRONT with the charity. Sonja said, "Hey, I will do this BUT I want it to be separate from my identity and association as a housewife and I want to be the only speaker. In other words,This is not to be seen as a Bravo event. The Charity desperate for any kind of spotlight/exposure said, "sure, no problem. You can be the solo speaker and yes, we are asking you to do this because of YOU not because of you being on the show." Of course it is a flat out lie but the Charity wanted what they wanted and it appeased Sonja.
Now, you have Alex and Simon. They are social climbers and they will use any venue to make that climb. I am not sure why the fans think that this has changed since season One?? It clearly hasn't changed, c'mon, the women, including Bethenny always said that Alex and Simon went to any opening and any event in attempt to climb the New York City social ladder! Alex was browbeating the women about the Marriage Equality March and she came up with the silly wedding dress idea to gain the spotlight. It was funny that she claimed that Sonja was hijacking the day (which Sonja clearly lost focus of the meaning of the day too) but taking center stage with the dresses was not necessary either.
Alright, so let us get to the day of the March. Sonja was hung up on being GRAND MARSHALL. I understand being excited and honored. I understand wanting to have your friends support you while doing something special BUT Sonja was beyond ridiculous. It was NOT HER DAY. She clearly went overboard about being Grand Marshall. To make matters worse Sonja did not prepare a speech. Hey, Sonja, "If you ask to be the only speaker and you are the Grand Marshall than prepare a speech, don't wing it!!" BUT, and here is the big BUT, Alex and Simon behaved just as poorly. Manners and etiquette are important to me. Once Alex found Simon was not speaking she should have shut up, enjoyed the MARCH and been supportive of Sonja. Honestly, browbeating Sonja right before she had to give a speech is WRONG and lacks class. It was clear Alex was upset that Simon was not going to get HIS SHINING MOMENT. It was VERY clear that Alex and Simon had an agenda too. Especially by her OVERREACTION to Simon not being able to give his speech, who cares, that wasn't what it was about, right??
It is sad that Kelly Killoren Bensimon made the most sense on the day of The Marriage Equality March. I loved it when she watched Sonja and Alex argue who was more important to 'the day' and Kelly said, "I'm not sure whose day we were supposed to be supporting but I was supporting Marriage Equality" In addition, I now see when Kelly breaks down with the women. Kelly can't stand to be embarrassed in public. Really,Why Kelly is on the Housewives still baffles me?? She certainly got flustered when Alex and Sonja were arguing over the 'speaking' situation and they were becoming SPECTACLES at the event for the wrong reason. That is when Kelly started losing it and she was trying to get them to calm down but she was not calm herself, it was funny!
In the end,Both women were wrong on the day of THE MARCH! Sonja got way to caught up in being GRAND MARSHAL!! Alex McCord and Simon Van Kempen had a personal agenda too! All of their egos got in the way on the day of THE MARCH! Two Divas!!! Or Three if you count Simon (LOL)
Now, off to Sonja's party!!! Here is my personal stance on that situation. It was Sonja's party and home. She wanted to clear the air and have a decent evening. Unfortunately, she did not want to hear Alex and better yet she expected an apology. Alex felt that she was owed an apology. Therefore, it was a disaster from the beginning BUT once again, I am a person of manners and etiquette. It was not the time or place for Alex to attack Sonja. When Sonja gave her little spill Alex had two choices. One, she could have said, "Sonja, I have a different perspective and we need to discuss this later." Or, if she was too upset to speak, since Sonja was negative about her husband then Alex should have kept quiet, walked away and approached Sonja at a later date to talk over their differences. I am not disagreeing that the women saw the day differently and I agree with Sonja that Alex and Simon were disconcerting to her right before she took the stage BUT Sonja was harsh when speaking with Alex too.
My overall point is that Alex was in Sonja's home at a party and it was the wrong time and place to lash out. In addition, a classy lady leaves when asked to leave, well, typically a classy lady doesn't get asked to leave but Alex was overstepping in someone's home.
In the end, I truly believe that Sonja and Alex were both wrong about THE MARCH but Alex made the larger faux pas at Sonja's home. Sonja was the hostess and Alex should have nodded her head, moved on and tackled the conversation on a later date.
Okay, now the Countess had some funny lines but I did love her one-liner, " I would have kicked her out for wearing that dress alone." Now, that was funny! Alex has always had interesting taste in clothes and sometimes she pulls it off and other times not so much. The bondage dress just looks like hell on her and those shoes, yikes! I don't care how expensive the outfit was, Alex looked like a pissed off hooker getting in the cab (LOL)!!
Anyway, everything else in the episode was tame compared to Alex and Sonja so I will leave the rest be!!
