 | Bethenny Ever After: Contradictions?posted by RF Club, Group AdministratorThursday, March 17th 2011 @ 11:38 PM (not yet rated) |
Bethenny Frankel DIE HARD fans click away, just click away.
I wasn't going to write a post on this episode. Why? Well, if I wrote from my heart, which is honestly how I write all my posts it would piss off a ton of my readers. But, as you can tell I chose to write the post anyway. Listen, I am an honest person. I don't follow ring leaders, matter of fact I like to associate with people that encourage and listen to differing views. Oh, and I call it how I see it, knowing full well that others will and should not see it the same way. What makes the world go round is the fact that we can all view the exact same situation, television show and event AND we will most likely come up with very different thoughts about it. Hopefully, there will be some middle ground and we can agree on things but it very rarely happens that we will agree on it all! Therefore, I decided to write the post and to write from my heart. Once again, meaning, write truly what I thought about the episode and how I viewed it. AGAIN, I know that many will disagree, so be it! Although, I do hope that a few that disagree will appreciate a different view and be open to it, just like I am open to their views!
Now, that I have set my self up here goes nothing!!
I might as well just put it on the table, oh, wait, put what on the table you ask? My issues with Bethenny Ever After!
- Nick, the, um, not sure what to label him, how about Bethenny 'feel good project'
I will address each issue separately but I do want to state that throughout the episode there are some delightful Bethenny moments. Unfortunately, they were few and far between for me in this episode and I seemed to be fuming a bit much to revel in the delight. In addition, I deliberately watched Bethenny Ever After on DVR and did not get on Twitter during the original airing. I find it difficult to view tweets that deem some of her behavior delightful when I know Americans, especially WOMEN would be clamoring harassment or other statements about work policies if they were handled in such a manner. Oh, and especially, if it was a man. I just can't stand women and double standards, drives me bonkers.
Okay, so Gina the Baby Nurse. Bethenny claims they have no boundaries in her house and she jokingly says, "I have adopted a 49 year old woman." We, then view Bethenny walking with her daughter in the morning while Gina sleeps. Oh, and Bethenny is supposedly 'accosted by Paparazzi'. I loved the fact that the guys she hid behind had no clue who Bethennny was, did you catch that piece of information?? Listen, I am sure many of you have been to New York City, LA, Vegas and you know the drill. Especially, in NYC and LA. The Paparazzi will begin taking pictures of anyone with a camera crew, they do it all the time then they run it into their editors hoping someone knows who the person is unless of course it is someone super duper famous they have constant, oh, AND A LOT OF Paparazzi surrounding them, Bethenny does not rank at that level (LOL). Okay, let's not split hairs over Paparazzi.
Back to the Baby nurse sound asleep. Now, if Bethenny is becoming a very hands on mom then she needs to let the baby nurse go, right? Who in their right mind gets up with their child and let's the baby nurse sleep? I mean the Baby nurse should at least get up and clean bottles, fold clothes, do a load of baby clothes, I mean, I don't know WORK??? Call me crazy but I call that having a WORK ETHIC. Or wait, the Baby Nurse sleeping while mommy is doing all the duties, well, the baby nurse has NO WORK ETHIC. I mean, really, rolling over while the mom grabs the kid? Now, that is lacking in a work ethic??? Oh, and what about Bethenny saying at the photo shoot, "I gave Gina plenty of time to get ready, get her makeup on and get Bryn ready and come and meet us at the shoot?" WTF?? Sorry, but I would politely tell my employee what time to be at the photo shoot and expect them there, with no worries about giving them plenty of time and time to put makeup on???
Later, we are privy to Gina having marital problems and then Bethenny and Gina go for a waxing and then they have a birthday party for Gina. Talk about CROSSING SERIOUS lines because now Gina is feeling like family and how do you tell your baby nurse to fucking work??? But, it is all cute because Bryn loves Gina and Bethenny and Gina have bonded, right? Listen, you can develop a close relationship with your nanny but you still need to have professional lines.
Onto Nick??? I have no idea what the Nick project is all about but if I was Nick I would be hurt. See, I am a mother that had children that were not popular. Both my kids have grown up to be great adults. They have wonderful friends now. My son is in law school and has a wonderful group of friends and my daughter is having a wonderful first year of college making great friends!! But, in middle school I had a mother tell me that my son should feel lucky that her daughter befriended him because he needed all the friends he could get and she would be a great help to him gaining more friends. I kid you not. Therefore, I take great offense at what Bethenny is doing with Nick. Bethenny acts like she is going to be Nick's SAVIOR and help him out of his shell. What Bethenny might find is that Nick likes his life and his happy. Bethenny seems to think her introducing Nick into her life will make it better for Nick??? Condescending, don't you think?? Nick seems like a nice guy. He likes interesting food places in New York City and a blog is a great idea but Bethenny oohing and aahhing over him is rude, to say the least.
I didn't find the food crawl all that interesting and getting the booze after was interesting to say the least. I am curious, if Kim Zolciak had someone run across the street to grab liquor to put in a drink and put the booze in the stroller would you all have giggled??? Just curious? Call me a prude but we just didn't drink all that often around our children and I never put any alcohol in the stroller!
The firing of Max?? Listen, it was clear that Bethenny and Julie did not click with Max but Bethenny claiming she runs a small business and is professional is a joke. My husband runs a small business. I was the HR person for a short time, just to fill in until they could hire the replacement for the person who retired after doing it for 26 years. Anyway, he watched the scene and was appalled let me rephrase I made him watch the scene. He said, "She is lucky he is a white male because those poor guys can never sue but if she hires any other 'group' she better learn HR" Every State has different hiring and firing laws but there are some basics throughout the country. Bethenny was beyond unprofessional with Max. Now, how many of you would be livid to get fired without a review?? Oh, and how would you like your boss to walk in and sit across from you with arms folded while another employee kept their head down and worked on the computer? Julie did not contribute to the meeting and if she was suppose to then you put your computer down and focus on the meeting, right?? In addition, Max did not know he was being fired he thought he was being reprimanded? Typically, it is clear you are being let go and the reasons are stated. not discussed.
Now, as far as Bethenny's reasons? She just kept saying you have done nothing? My husband laughed and laughed. In Ohio, we have very liberal firing laws and yet our lawyers highly suggest in order to prevent lawsuits to document the employees, for lack of a phrase 'screw ups'. In other words, my husband painstakingly documents before firing. When they decide it is time to let a person go we clearly document the work and prove their lack of performance. Bethenny, claimed that her big issue was the condom statement. Max could easily fight this and claim total confusion with boundaries. Bethenny had him packing her suitcase and said, "You can touch my underwear my vagina is not still in them." Clearly not an appropriate statement. Bethenny sent Max out to buy her underwear??? C'mon women would be bitching if a guy boss sent them to buy his underwear. Max was clearly confused with what Bethenny wanted him to do for the camera and not do for the camera?? For godsakes they forced the guy to ask a girl out on camera. BOUNDARIES were crossed. In addition,Julie played all kinds of games with Max. Telling him to be more assertive and then bitched at him for not answering every single email???
My point, if Bethenny wants to claim she is a boss and runs a PROFESSIONAL BUSINESS then you act like a boss and create a BUSINESS atmosphere. You have reviews, you set up expectations for the job and you set goals. Ask Tabatha Coffey, I bet she would suggest an employee manual. Once, Bethenny decided to hire employees she needed to setup business guidelines. YOU DON'T FUCKING WING IT! It is nice to say have a 'work ethic' but Bethenny needed to DEFINE her 'work ethic' to her employees and what she expected of each of them. Julie was her right hand girl and Max had to navigate between Julie and Bethenny. Ultimately it is up to the boss to setup the guidelines. You can't just say, "Come work for me , fucking figure it out and have a work ethic." Jesus, my husband said he wishes he could say that to his employees. He wishes he could fire people because they were not 'getting it' oh, and just say that too and they would go, "Okay, thanks"
Anyway, I am sure you just all thought Bethenny handled it great but I am curious if you would think it was great if your boss fired you in that manner?? Everyone defines 'work ethic' differently. My husband would fire half is fucking staff because my husband thinks you should have nothing but billable hours and you should want to work at least 80 hours a week? Yeah, right, who wants to work 80 hours a week, every week?? See, it is all in how you define 'work ethic'. And, aren't you all glad we have laws so it can't be so subjective??
Well, guess, I had quite the tirade. I think I go off a little more about some of Bethenny's antics because it seems that people seem to let Bethenny do whatever she wants and the other housewives are ripped to shreds. If Vicki Gunvalson, or Gretchen Rossi had a scene about Paparrazi, oh my gosh, they would get ripped and I am sure that these women have gotten their pictures snapped when the film crews are around too! So, as I say with all the housewives and Bethenny will always be a housewife to me they all have their up moments with me and they all have their down moments. Bethenny just had some down moments with me this week.
