The Real Housewives of Orange County seemed to focus on relationships. Couple relationships and friend relationships.
I am going to start with us meeting the newest housewife Peggy Tanous. Now, it is the first episode and typically I don't put a lot of stock in first time meetings of Housewives but goodness gracious this lady rubbed me the wrong way. Peggy tries too hard. She wants to be the blonde bombshell but claim she isn't?? Don't judge the book by the cover statement is a little old. If you are not like your cover then why work so hard to be that cover?? Why not be a brunette? Why stress so hard you married for love? Isn't it sad that people have to even STATE that as a fact or try to prove it? If it is true then don't even talk about it. Not sure what the shooting range adventure proved or let me restate, what did Peggy and her husband think that proved? They are different? What they are a couple that enjoy going to the range together so they are really in love?? WTF?? STOP THE PERFORMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You know what is funny? I think the scene with Peggy and Alexis was more 'real'. C'mon, mommies, how many of you could relate to such a conversation? We all have partaken in such a conversation at one time or another, right? You know, you are with that 'friend' that just drives you nuts about bragging about their kids and before you know it you find yourself in a silly competition conversation. It is totally passive aggressive just like Peggy and Alexis, right? I mean, after all, they were just chatting about their over achieving kids (LOL) (oh, and SARCASM TOO) Us, mommies must admit we have all gotten caught up in one of those conversations and you just want to kill yourself after doing it. BUT, that is REAL, we can relate. WE DON'T want to ADMIT to it (LOL) but we can RELATE!!! (LOL) Oh, and Peggy and Alexis just seems like the best of buddies, (SARCASM, HUGE SARCASM)
Onto, Tamra Barney. The woman drives me insane. Who is over the lesbian overtures?? I wonder if Tamra's teasing bothers Fernanda Rocha? But, I guess it is the new IN thing? You know, get a divorce or after a big break up and decide to switch 'teams' as the saying goes? Anyway, I believe it is a friendship between Tamra and Fernanda AND Tamra thinks it is cute to 'tease' on camera AND Fernanda played along. STOP THE PERFORMING!!!!!!
Tamra and Alexis? "Oh, Alexis, trying to be friends with two women that hate each other, yeah, good luck with that situation!" I have my issues with Alexis but I am glad she held her ground with Tamra. Alexis did try to keep Gretchen under control at the party and Gretchen did come with an attitude but Tamra fanned the flames by putting the evil eye hat on and running out on the patio with Vicki AND treating Alexis badly. Tamra was a bad hostess, period! Back to this episode! Tamra and Alexis workout together, forget the workout, the chitchat was awesome! There is nothing worse than a NEWLY divorced woman trying to tell a 'friend' their marriage sucks. Tamra, really? You had to figure it out yourself and going after Alexis was wrong, she needs to figure her marriage out herself and it is unfair for you to be claiming the 'crystal ball' shit now! What a friend! (SARCASM)
Gretchen and Slade! Well, Gretchen refers to him as "my bitch", yeah, I am sure she was joking. I think Gretchen wants to make it clear that she is not a gold digger AND that SLADE does not manage her but she might be going a bit too far by claiming it is all sex. I think Slade might get a little pissed. A woman needs to be careful how far she goes with the emasculation of her guy!
Loved the way Gretchen tried to setup her guidelines with her assistant Shawna! Wonder how Gretchen felt after she viewed the footage and saw Shawna 'working Tamra'??? I would fire Shawna. There is no loyalty from that assistant!
Alexis! Well, we kind of touched on Alexis already. So, I won't rehash and since we are not seeing her with Jim this year I will refrain from discussing her marriage at this point! The only thing I will say is my mouth literally dropped open when Alexis said, "There are times I get out of line and Jim has to put me back in line " WTF?? My husband wouldn't even attempt because he knows I would definitely go screaming in the other direction. Now, if she means they talk about times when maybe Alexis screws up, yeah, my husband and I have had those conversations but they were JOINT conversations and usually I was OWNING up to my mistake and asking for advice/forgiveness or both! Oh, and he has had some of those conversations with me too, you know, he screws up at times. (LOL)
Now,Vicki, Vicki, Vicki! Her relationship is with work and someday she will regret it, she really will. It is great that she loves what she does, my husband LOVES what he does too. He owns his own business in the field of accounting and it was what he always wanted. Oh, and trust me, he is not your geeky accountant (LOL) BUT my husband did not sacrifice family and ME to run his business.It is sad to watch Vicki and Don but marriage takes work and they BOTH have to want it and it is clear they don't want it.
I get that Vicki doesn't 'hit it' with the other ladies but it is because Vicki is older and lives a different life but she still has drama. She tries to proclaim she is above the drama and I think not, just my opinion and if she was SOOOOO over it then why didn't she bow out of Real Housewives??? Vicki is loving the ATTENTION. I find it funny that she claims Alexis loves attention. Vicki has a relationship with work and BRAVO/Real Housewives is part of that RELATIONSHIP!
The other relationship that is important to Vicki are her kids. Unfortunately, she smothers them and Brianna tolerates Vicki better and seems to deal with the overbearing mother. BUT, will there come a point that Vicki pays for the smothering?? We saw Brianna considering the running away approach?? Now, Brianna was funny with the matchmaking stories. OKAY, did anyone wonder where MICHAEL was on this business trip??? Vicki claimed Michael was her top agent. Therefore, shouldn't Michael have been at this important event?? Hmmm. Just curious, I didn't see him there, did any of you guys??
Well, I must admit I can't wait to see where these relationships go! I am eagerly awaiting to meet Tamra's guy and I certainly hope it is before the bath tub scene that Bravo keeps teasing us with, that scene looks like it is going to be too much for me and Peggy definitely rubbed me the wrong way. On the upside, I must admit I enjoyed this episode. I like seeing the women separately and living more day to day. Yes, some of it was still very staged but it had some real moments as REAL as REAL can get (LOL). Vicki and the eggs was REAL, for sure (LOL)!!!
