The Real Housewives of Miami: Lucy's Theory!

posted by RF Club, Group AdministratorWednesday, March 2nd 2011 @ 11:17 PM (not yet rated)

The Real Housewives of Miami!

Man, I feel bad for these women.  See, it is always hard starting a new franchise.  I remember each franchise starting and all started slow.  Then, came the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills!!  They connected with the fans.  Although, I do believe towards the end the fans began to tire of the tightness of the group but I am not going to digress and chat about the The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Nope, instead, let us chat about my theory.

The Real Housewives fans were all geared up for The Real Housewives of New York City to begin airing when Bravo pulled the plug and replaced the New York City ladies with the Miami ladies.  Oh, that just KILLED Miami.  I mean, they were NEW.  No one knew the ladies and the fans were clamoring for New York City and then the big axe came down.  Now, I must admit I do find it funny that the fans had such a reaction.  Let us take a close look at the cast of New York City.  Ramona Singer, LuAnn de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, Kelly Killoren  Bensimon, Alex McCord,  Jill Zarin and the new gal, Cindy Barshop.  Now, I do hate to nitpick but I remember clearly 'hearing' the outcry that fans would not watch if Jill Zarin remained on the show and many claimed the same intention for Kelly Killoren Bensimon.  In addition, I have yet to see a huge following for any of the other wives.  Ramona Singer, certainly has an up and down relationship with fans.  Sonja Morgan was considered a breath of fresh air when she entered the season but I wouldn't say she is LOVED and the draw.  LuAnn de Lesseps was in the Jill Zarin and Kelly Killoren Bensimon camp and she definitely has her following of 'haters'. Fans have definitely warmed up to Alex McCord and her husband Simon van Kempen but I can't imagine that these two alone are the ENTIRE DRAW for The Real Housewives of New York City.  Therefore, my question is, what gives???  Why in the world did fans freak out when The Real Housewives of New York City was preempted for The Real Housewives of Miami???  Honestly, I don't get it??    I guess, they just were not into being introduced to a new group of women??  Maybe the fans were ready for some familiar, comfortable faces??  I mean,  I was expecting an all out outcry for boycotting The Real Housewives of New York City because Jill Zarin and Kelly Killoren Bensimon were still apart of the show??? Must admit  I am baffled??

Therefore, I do believe that The Real Housewives of Miami are battling to evils at this point.  One, they are new and it is hard to be NEW and they preempted a comfortable Real Housewives Franchise.

Onto The Real Housewives of Miami!!  These women are becoming interesting.  I like the fact that they are not all 'in love' with each other!!  I must admit I was getting a little sick of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills trying to play the 'we all like each other' game.  Now, that doesn't mean I want 'wig pulling' and 'table flipping' but I like the fact that people have different opinions and they don't always get along with the people they have to be in the same room with and yet they can handle the situation.

Lunch!!  Let us talk about the lunch at Cristy Rice's home.  I could give a rat's ass about the chef and a crock pot (LOL).  What I loved was the entire conversation about Adriana and Fredric, her fiance.  Wow!!  Now, that was a conversation!!  Adriana's son needed picked up from school.  ADRIANA'S son!!!  She called Fredric ( he is not the boy's father) and at the time it seemed he hung up on her but later we found out he was in a meeting.   At lunch we knew that Fredric actually did pick up the young boy as Adriana the mother continued to LUNCH with the ladies.  Adriana informed everyone that the teacher was pissed.  Cristy, mom of three and Larsa, mom of four told her that she shouldn't take that shit from Fredric and that she was beautiful and by God didn't Fredric know what he had.  Alexia, mom of two, sat there kind of stunned and said, "Oh, good, he did get picked up and he Fredric did come through for you in the end."   If I was 'Lunching" and the school called me and my husband was WORKING my ass would have gotten up and picked up my child, I wouldn't even have thought about it and I don't care if my husband was closer, I would have picked up my child because LUNCH versus WORK and oh, getting a call that my kid has been forgotten, I would have flown out of my chair totally embarrassed!!!!  Now, Cristy and Larsa have no worries because they have nannies and drivers and well, I just can't relate but those two women focused on Adriana and Fredric, not the child sitting at school WAITING to be picked up.  GREAT FLIPPING MOMS!!!

Poor, Alexia at work was discussing reaching all her readers and called a segment of Florida the lower people.  Gosh, I knew she was going to pay dearly for that line.  I, honestly knew what Alexia was trying to say in her meeting and I am sure many magazine editors/owners have said similar statements but not on a reality television show.  Lower income people do enjoy reading about the socialites, how do I know this??  Well, I am not raking in the coals (LOL) and I love a reading all those magazines and they give such great tips on how to look like a million bucks for very little!!  I do believe that is all she meant by that statement!  I think Alexia's comment got lost in all the translation.

The big event of the show was Lea Black's Gala!  I must admit I was not overly impressed with the Gala.  I am sure it was lovely and it just did not come across well on television.  It was hard to get into the Gala and auction.  I think it was too soon in the season.  We saw a few high profile people but the event just fell flat.  Marysol Patton's only real appearance of the evening was to work the event as the 'red carpet' organizer and that was a bore.  Her dress was beautiful but otherwise the poor woman had no impact on the episode.

The big deal of the evening was Cristy Rice attending the event with two friends and she did not pay BUT nothing happened.  It was a very nice event and no scenes were made and I didn't expect there to be any scenes at such an event.    I think this is more the setup to feuding about the fact that Cristy is a schmuck.  I mean who shows up to such an event without paying or buying a big ticket auction item??  Well, I guess, Cristy Rice (LOL)

So, is The Real Housewives of Miami off the charts great??? Nah!  But, I don't think it is as bad as The Real Housewives of D.C. and many Real Housewives fans stuck with that franchise?? Honestly, I, had a very difficult time with D.C.  Like I said, in my opinion, The Real Housewives of Miami are battling a backlash.  I did notice that there were tweeters and yes they were negative BUT they tweeted the FULL hour of the show.  I watched The Real Housewives of Miami later, on my DVR but I followed tweets during it's first time run.  I must admit I am always amazed at why a person would watch something they dislike for an entire hour??  I watch shows to write for my blog but if I tend to not like a show I watch it on my own time and sometimes I even skip it and not write on every episode.  So, my point, you ask??  Well, I guess, I am asking, Why the hell would a person TWEET for a full hour bitching about a show???  TURN THE CHANNEL!  I mean, there is a shitload of shit on television.  They certainly could have found something else to watch, right??

Oh, well, Back to The Real Housewives of Miami, my suggestion, give it a chance.  I think it will heat up but if you hate it don't worry The Real Housewives of Orange County is starting March 6th and before you know it The Real Housewives of New York City will be on the air.  In the meantime, I am sure you can find something to watch, I always do!!!!
