Bethenny Ever After: A Half Hour too long!

posted by RF Club, Group AdministratorTuesday, March 1st 2011 @ 5:39 PM (not yet rated)

Hoppy Trails To You!

Bethenny Frankel begins season two and I would put money on it that this is her final season?? Anyway, let us not even go there yet.

Now to start this little blog post off I am going to give you a few Tweets I grabbed from Tweeters off of Twitter after the premiere!!

@Bethenny, #bethennyeverafter loved the premiere! your family, your relationship, your passion is truly inspiring

#BethennyEverAfter was so good tonight, so real and raw!!

#bethennyeverafter was bad! her true colors r showing, pullaway from J's parents, making fun of his town & acting like her shit don't stink

THEN......

Bethenny herself tweeted at the end of the premiere!

@Bethenny Bethenny Frankel
Thank you for watching.it's hard to watch, but for you,I give it to you straight.this is my real life-the whole truth.no sugar coating.

So, what did I think??
Was it so good, so real and raw?? Truly inspiring?  Or Did Bethenny's true colors show through? (never a compliment)  Do I believe Bethenny?? No sugar coating??  Honestly, I don't know but I do know this, it is hard to watch an hour of Bethenny.
What did I enjoy!!  Thinking, thinking, (I am joking)  Well sort of.  Listen, I have always liked Bethenny Frankel but in small doses.  I think Bethenny should have either stuck out another season of the housewives or she should have quickly found another gig but I don't think Bethenny for an hour is a good thing.  I personally, did not enjoy "Bethenny Getting Married?" and actually, I watched that show on repeats.  I even said that the fight with Jill Zarin turned out to be a good thing for Bethenny.  Bravo made Bethenny look like the underdog and Americans love to root for the underdog and it was a great way to set up a new show.  Now, Bethenny is lacking the "Jill is sooooo mean" set up for this season and she has to hold the show together with all her loveliness and Bethenny is not lovely.  AND WHO IS???  Honestly, I am not picking on her, I am just stating that I think this season might be a little harder on Bethenny.  I think an half hour show would be perfect!

Okay, back to what I enjoyed.  Well, some of Bethenny's lines.  Bethenny is still Bethenny and she has a way of being funny even when she is being snotty and mean.  Bethenny pulls it off but make no mistake she is a snob.  Although, I think she uses this has a defense mechanism, in my opinion.  I am not saying that makes it acceptable I just think it is her armor and shield!

So, they open the season off with a nice little family walk and Bethenny seems to be pissing and moaning about not feeling like a newlywed.  She continues to whine about how stressful life is?  I guess that is where Bethenny is losing me.  See, I married at the young age of 21 and had my first child at the age of 22 and no, I was not pregnant when I married, unlike Bethenny, I planned my wedding for a year, I was engaged at 20, my husband proposed after we were together for only two months!  Anyway, Bethenny wants to talk about stress?? Yeah, we built our lives while raising our family.  Sometimes, I thought I might just jump off the nearest bridge (LOL) AND I AM SURE YOU ALL HAVE SIMILAR STORIES!!!  So, it is a little hard listening to a 39 year old woman whine and one that clearly has the money to enlist help! I bet Bethenny doesn't clean a toilet?? (LOL)

Now, the typical husband and wife dying conversation was funny.  Loved her 'pink cardigan hot 23 year old blonde' crack.  Those are the lines I enjoy from Bethenny and I could relate to the conversation.  The wife tends to claim they will mourn forever and the husband giggles but doesn't claim they will mourn forever.  You know, your typical morbid death conversations between married couples. (LOL)

Now, believe it or not but I am going to wrap this up pretty quick. I think Bethenny runs!!!  Therefore, Bethenny is going to move to California to RUN from Jason's needy parents.  Bethenny is a loner.  She likes to blame it on her childhood.  We only get Bethenny's version and at some point Bethenny needs to GROW up and quit blaming everything on her rotten parents, she is now 40??? Anyway, you can see that she is torn.  Jason's parents on the other hand are a little much.  You can see they are loving but they are going through the 'first grandchild' syndrome and wanting to see the child weekly is hard, especially since they don't live in the same town.  In addition, I felt for Bethenny when they said, "maybe they will let you (talking to the baby) come here in the summer"  Mothers don't like to hear their in-laws wanting to take their kid for long periods of time.  A week, maybe?  An entire summer?  Not so much!   That is rough and most moms don't do it unless they have to for work purposes.  Jason's mom saying, " I thought Bryn forgot us"  and they see Bryn every two weeks??  C"MON!!!    Jason is a good son but I think Bethenny is feeling suffocated and she will bolt.  Now, Bethenny saying they have to have their own holidays???  Yikes, that was harsh!  I couldn't stand my in-laws but they were included in all holidays and our children events, they are the grandparents!  Bethenny needs to let Jason deal with his parents or they will end up resenting her and Jason NEEDS to deal with it.  But, something tells me Bethenny will bolt!!

Partying in Hazelton!  Bethenny came off very snotty.  She thought she was funny about the cost of the drinks!!  Unfortunately, Bethenny isn't always funny, nope, sometimes she is just flat out rude and mean.  The bartender was not laughing.  She found Bethenny snotty.  As I watched the show again, to write this, I noticed something else in Bethenny's eyes.  As she sat at the bar that evening in Hazelton, originally feeling above everyone, she realized they all had something, even the men with no teeth, they had roots.  They were family in this little town and Bethenny can go in all the classy bars in New York City and not have what they have and she all of a sudden ached for that history, for those kind of roots.

As far as the therapy session, I can't stand therapy sessions on reality shows.  A good therapist and I am assuming he is pretty good will only allow the superficial part of therapy on television.  We already know Bethenny needs to tackle her childhood issues, right??

I contend that "Bethenny Ever After" should only be a half hour and I really believe Bethenny  works best in small doses with an ensemble cast!
