A few days ago I got caught up watching a mini marathon of Teen Moms 2. In all honesty I had never watched Teen Moms. I had heard about the reality show on MTV and I had read blogs. So, there I was knee deep in this mini marathon and something hit me. We, human beings, like to watch train wrecks. These four young ladies are train wrecks. Yes, they are teens. Yes, they made a mistake BUT and here is the big BUT they seem to continue making more mistakes and I found myself yelling at the television "STOP!" The parents that chose to be shown seemed to lack the 'right' sense too. Don't get me wrong, they seem to be trying to help in their own way but unfortunately watching their so called help kind of explained why the girls ended up in the situation they are in. Oh, and please note I am not blaming the parents for all of the girls problems. The girls were old enough to know what they were doing and what COULD happen and it DID happen. I just believe that the parents have not helped with decisions after the mistake and this leads me to think these parents lack in guidance all the way around. Children make mistakes even with the best parenting but GOOD parenting helps navigate through a mistake. For these girls, well, they continue down horrible paths.
But, mostly as I sat watching and make no mistake I was watching, I thought, teenagers watching this should LEARN from these girls. They should realize that having sex in High School can lead to pregnancy and to the life they are watching AND do they want that??? Unfortunately, I read, or heard or both that some girls were deliberately trying to get pregnant just so they could be on MTV?? Oh, my gosh, they are not watching the show, not really watching it!! These TEEN MOMS are miserable. This does not take away from their LOVE for the innocent child BUT make no mistake RIGHT now their life is hard and they are teenagers living a life that is NOT FUN. MTV is showing the REALITY of a mistake and yet teenagers just want and see the fame of television??? But, what about the day in and day out of having a baby???
So as I watched this mini marathon on MTV I thought about US human beings AND ME and just what our motives in life are?? What gets us to DO THINGS? Of course,I naturally pondered on MTV's TOP SHOW!
Jersey Shore
The Jersey Shore cast is raking it in. MONEY That is!! That cast is making a shitload of money. But at what cost?? They HAVE TO PARTY. Drinking and doing GOD KNOWS what else?? Nicole Pilozzi ended up getting arrested. These 'kids' have sex with anyone they meet and the ladies will 'pay' worse for such acts. It might be 2011 but women still pay a price for sleeping around. I do believe the Jersey Boys would say they are not 'wifey' material. I am sure that Mike or Vinny would try to be nice about Jenni, Nicole, Deena and Sammi but if they met any other gal that had the track record of these ladies they would not want to get serious with her, right?? In the end, these young kids are prostituting themselves and they don't want to admit it. What is funny, we or some of us, approve of it. I guess the ultimate question is "how much is your dignity worth?" Mike said he made 5 million dollars last year. Therefore, him drinking, partying and having sex has earned him 5 million BUCKS!! AND yet, he did all of his partying on a reality show so we don't put his lifestyle down BUT someone else his age living such a life and making SHIT, we rag on??? Oh, and we have total disdain for prostitutes?? Sometimes, just sometimes, I am not sure there is much difference. I mean would we watch Jersey Shore if they were little angels??
I have noticed lately that Nicole Pilozzi seems to be tiring of her image. I am not sure if she will change but I think she is getting older and her arrest might have hit her and she has been tweeting interesting tweets AND doing some interesting YOUTUBE videos. Nicole claims that the things that people say, hurt. She states that, "her Jersey Shore image is not all that she is and that there is more to her." Nicole has insinuated she is tiring of Snooki, the name and image.
Once again, how much is a DIGNITY worth???
I am a parent. I have a 22 year old son and a 19 year old daughter. They are of age. They could easily sign up for something God Awful. I would die. I would want to kill them because I would have hoped that I taught them that money is not the BE ALL AND END ALL. Mostly, I sooooo hope that I raised two children that would not SELL their dignity but one thing for sure, my mom always says, "don't talk about other people's children because you never know what yours might end up doing." So, all I can do is HOPE they chug along the path of life to the best of their abilities and when they make a wrong turn ( we all do) we (me and their dad) can help navigate them back on the right path. BUT, I guarantee you if they came to me and said they were getting ready to sell their soul, I might use some pretty effective methods to change their minds (LOL).
