Millionaire Matchmaker: Patti Stanger Queen of Double Standard

posted by RF Club, Group AdministratorWednesday, December 15th 2010 @ 2:22 AM (not yet rated)

Millionaire Matchmaker: Cooking and Queening.

Oh, it is harder and harder for me to watch this show.  And, what is sad, is once upon a time I enjoyed the show.  But, all good things must come to an end.  I do believe that fame has gone to Patti Stanger's head.  Yes, I believe Patti was always a tad bit obnoxious and it was a good thing.  It made for FUN reality television but then Patti decided she needed to ramp it up and now it all feels forced, not REAL and it has become annoying.  But, a good thing for Patti, she continues to have her supporters.  For instance right before this episode aired this tweet was tweeted.

Every week, I fall a bit deeper in love with Patti and #MillionaireMatchmaker. Let's do this.

Okay, so let us get chatting about Cooking and Queening!  This episode wasn't as horrid as past episodes.  You know why??  Because Patti Stanger was a little calmer.  It seemed like she genuinely wanted her clients to find love.  That is what seems to be missing with Patti Stanger.  She seems bitter and unhappy most of the time.  Andy Cohen describes her as a strong woman and compares her to Tabatha Coffey.  Nah, these two women are very different.  Tabatha is a strong woman.  But, Tabatha doesn't scream and yell just to scream and yell.  In addition, Tabatha doesn't scream, yell and cuss out of emotion.  Well, yes, it is emotion but it is more frustration that the person is not accepting the help AND it isn't constant.  Patti is BERATING the person and not trying to reach her client anymore.  AND it feels like Patti is constantly yelling and screaming!!

Okay, let me try again, (LOL) Cooking and Queening!  Patti has two women millionaires.  One she respects and considers a friend, Judith Regan media guru.  The other, just your normal applicant.  This young lady, Andrea, is  accomplished in her field.  She owns an upscale catering company.  It is interesting to watch how Patti approaches both clients.

Andrea, The Cooking Queen!  This poor woman has sacrificed love to build a thriving business.  In order to create a top notch business she has become a control freak and unfortunately she was using the same technique to find love.  Andrea was also looking for the perfect man, she is a perfectionist.   Andrea is beautiful, vulnerable and very ready for love.  Patti beat the shit out of this soft spoken woman who quite frankly did not like being YELLED at or cussed out.  Yes, Andrea, needed help.  Yes, Andrea needed guidance and direction hence the reason she went to the Millionaire Matchmaker Club but Patti cannot READ people.  For a matchmaker, Patti's lacks the skill of connecting with her clients.  This just amazes me week after week!!  First, Patti burned Andrea's list of requirements for men.  Patti needed to burn the list but she would have been more successful if she would have explained why the list needed to go and got Andrea to burn her checklist.  Second, screaming at Andrea at the meet and greet was uncalled for and the constant "I'm done" phrase from Patti is getting old.  Patti needs to learn how to stay calm and professional.

Patti didn't use any of these tactics with her friend, how surprising (sarcasm)

Patti was incredibly gentle with Judith Regan.  That is being the PROPER business owner.  You don't scream at your clients and make them feel like shit.  You know they already feel like shit, they have no love life, right??  But, she was very gentle with this much older, not so attractive woman.  I mean Patti tends to rip her other clients about their looks and their previous failures and yet she was MISS GENTLE with her friend.  I think she handled it beautifully BUT I don't like hypocrites or someone who has double standards.  If you run a business you should treat all your clients with the utmost respect, not just your friends or the ones  you really respect.  You know sometimes when you are providing a service you don't always love your client but you should treat them with respect they are  your client, right???

Anyways, as the show progresses Patti gets to have her MEAN scene.  And, I guess that is what I am finding out about myself.   See, Millionaire Matchmaker can be enlightening for the soul (sarcasm)  Personally, I do not like the mean scenes in the show.  You know, when Patti and the staff rip the potential dates and even some of the clients.  How they look, dress and talk.  Patti can be very brutal and it is not constructive criticism.  I just don't enjoy humiliating people.  It is the reason I have never watched American Idol.  I could never watch the early rounds of that show, making fun of people who truly believe they have a talent and they are put on television to be made fun of??  Now, that is cruel.  We have become cruel.  Anyways, they go to the comedy club (Oh, and aren't all four of them walking into the club??? Then didn't only the three of them watch the comedians? I can't watch it again, let me know if I got that scene correct?)  and Patti and her cronies make fun of aspiring comics.  I don't like hurting people who are putting themselves out there.  Just me.

Then, we move on and survive the meet & greet and the ladies go on lovely dates.  Honestly, they both had great dates.  Andrea planned her date and she got ripped for taking control but the guy rolled with it and they had a lovely time.  Both women had second dates planned with their guys and Patti chalked it up to a success.

We did get a special treat of having a comedian pop in because Judith had a crush on him and but he is gay.  Patti had him on to make it crystal clear that he is gay and Judith needs to look for someone that is more than funny.  The guy does need to 'get the juices flowing' as Patti put it.  Unfortunately, what Patti doesn't get is the gay comedian did get Judith's juices flowing and she wished he was bisexual (LOL).

Oh, well, the show was pleasant because it had less yelling, less mean and cruel scenes and it was nice to see Patti really want to see a client succeed.  Of course, the promo for the next episode looks like we go right back to good old nasty Patti! *sigh*
