Tabatha's Salon Takeover: Christopher Hill
Oh, we knew this one was not fixable from the get go, right?? Tabatha had no chance, no chance. Husband and wife team, run, run and keep running!!!
Now, I guess I should back up. When Tim and Alexis, the husband and wife owners go outside the salon to meet Tabatha they embrace her. I mean the wife, Alexis, runs to Tabatha crying and gives her a big hug. Therefore, you would think they genuinely want help and they do BUT they don't want to be told THEY are the problem and oh, boy things unfold quickly in the first scene.
During Salon Undercover Alexis, quickly stops crying and informs Tabatha that she may not No SHIT about the hair dressing industry BUT she comes from CORPORATE AMERICA and basically thought, "Hell, how hard could it be running a Hair Salon." Oh, and you notice I didn't mention her husband,Tim, yet. Yeah, he is just sitting in the chair like a lump of nothing. Tabatha asks both owners what they think the staff thinks of them. Alexis answers, "they think we are morons." Um, let's see, could they be correct?? (sarcasm) Alexis and Tim didn't realize they had a business that was centered on customer service relations??? Alexis fires stylist left and right BUT goes into the salon and gets her hair styled once or twice a week. Not training staff. Not having stylist manager??? Oh, and the made up Christopher Hill owner??? What the hell??? Oh, and their sign has a different name?? The sign says Ultima but the actual name is Christopher Hill?? Yeah, if I was a staff member I would be thinking the owners were just a bit 'out to lunch'.
The Salon Takeover! The Salon wasn't filthy but the color was all wrong and Alexis blamed the design team??? An owner has the final say, dah?? Tabatha points out that the Salon is in decent shape and in a good area. Therefore, she needs to meet with the staff to find out why it is not making more money. I think we are all starting to figure it out, right??
So, the Staff Meeting. The staff inform Tabatha that Alexis treats them like second class citizens. Alexis constantly throws it in their faces that she has a MBA from USC and she was suma cum laude. Woohoo, I bet they just want to bow at her feet!! (sarcasm) Alexis might find it interesting that some of those hairdressers have more flipping money than her. I would wager that most of them have more money than her (LOL). It seems that her degree has gotten her $300,000.00 into debt so take those degrees to the bank and see if it helps keep your house?? I think the bank will say, shove the degrees where the sun don't shine honey, and oh, we are foreclosing on your home!!
Tabatha assesses the staff and they are good. So, there you go!!! It is the owners, TOTALLY and Tabatha tells Tim and Alexis this and Alexis refuses to hear it. Alexis HIDES behind her degrees. Their business is failing and she refuses to accept any responsibility.
Poor Tabatha. Tabatha makes the mistake of thinking she can reach the husband. Nah, he is a weak man. You could see that Alexis drives the bus. Tabatha continued throughout the episode to reach the owners. Alexis cried every time she was hit with reality and criticism. Unfortunately, she believes she knows it all. In addition, she has leverage over her husband. Tim has done something in their relationship that she holds over his head and if he tries to takeover she throws his mistake in his face. Tabatha could not reach this couple. Even when she tried to get Alexis to respect hairstyling Alexis said she would just go to beauty school and get her license and prove that she could do it. Alexis is your typical MBA graduate, they think they can go learn anything. Well, see MBA's are easy to get so they believe all degrees are easy (LOL). Yeah, I had to dig at her degree. But, you know, Alexis has to realize that MBA's are no big deal anymore. No longer a specialized degree, so really she needs to shut the hell up.
I must admit, If I was from USC I would be embarrassed. Alexis better hope they somehow make Christopher Hill work because no one should hire Alexis as a business consultant. Alexis would run any flipping business into the ground. Alexis KNOWS NOTHING about business. You have to LISTEN TO YOUR STAFF and YOUR CLIENTS!! As OWNERS you lead and respect your staff.
Final Recommendations: What a waste of time! I think Tim believed at the time he was taking his balls back and he was going to try to follow through with Tabatha's suggestions but I knew the second Tabatha walked out the door Alexis was going to grab Tim's balls and shove them right back into his stomach. Man, Alexis kicks that guy in the balls!! See, Tabatha was really TIM'S BALLS for the week!!!
The Bottom Line: Christopher Hill will never be successful until Alexis is gone because I doubt she can change. I was not surprised that when Tabatha went back they had remained the same and they continue to replace staff. Constant turnover is bad and it does say something about the owners. Like I said, Tim's balls walked out the door at the end of the week and as long as he stays married to Alexis he will never see his balls again!!!
