Sarah Palin's Alaska!
I confess, I am one of the 5 million plus viewers watching this show! Yeah, Yeah, everyone is saying it sucks or they can't stand her and yet the ratings are soaring?? So, is it really ALASKA that is drawing us ALL IN??? I have no idea. I will be honest, I peeked in to see SARAH. The woman was beat to death as the Vice Presidential candidate and I never really got a good feel for her. I decided I wanted to peek. My political affiliation?? I definitely lean Republican. I would not say I am a hardcore conservative Republican. Nope. I am more moderate. Honestly, MOST Americans are MODERATES. Meaning, if you are a Liberal Democrat you will find that most Liberal Democrats are more Moderate. You tend to have only few numbers on each end of the spectrum. Okay, now, I have been upfront about my politics. Let us move forward into REALITY TELEVISION.
Sarah Palin fits on TLC! She has created that family type show! The family camps together. Sarah fishes with her daughters. She goes hunting with her Dad. Sarah is showing her husband passing the family business down to their oldest son. It is a family show. Of course, being in Alaska it is rugged. Sarah gets to show all the HUNTING and gun toting she wants without taking too much flak from the liberals. Family and guns and she has couched all in a way that liberals can't attack without looking brutal. Can Sarah run for office??? I don't know?? But, she certainly has made herself SOFTER. Not sure if she is like able??? But, you know having a simple sweet sixteen birthday party for her daughter certainly makes her endearing to Americans who are sick of all the flashy politicians spending all their money on outrageous parties and vacations? Or even, just some of the other Reality stars overspending and then filing bankruptcy. Sarah's father is very entertaining and one can tell he has never really stopped teaching.
Overall, the show is on television because of Sarah Palin BUT if you imagined it about another family I think you would like it. We enjoy watching young ladies fish, hunt and camp. We love seeing families around a campfire eating marshmallows, playing games and enjoying BUT it isn't just anywhere! Alaska is beautiful! The other side of the show is it makes you want to visit Alaska but if you can't get to Alaska it makes you want to embrace NATURE again. Get outside. Do a hike. Smell the fresh air. In between we get good old Sarah. She makes her cracks about the media. Sarah discusses her frustration of someone moving next to her to write a book and she now has to put up a fence. Yes, she put herself in the spotlight. On the other hand, I can feel for her a little bit. I wouldn't want someone next to me with a camera with zoom lens writing a book about me.
The last episode I watched had Kate Gosselin and her crew. Kate's crew were great!! Kate is a bitch. Kate made Sarah Palin look awesome!!! Kate bitched, bitched and bitched. Kate was condescending and rude. I mean, Sarah Palin was a Governor and did run on a Presidential ticket and Kate acted like a Prima Dona??? Kate needs to get off her high horse and I do hope it happens soon for Kate Gosselin. Now, at least, Kate's kids were great. They were well behaved and they wanted to have fun but Kate is quite the sour puss. Kate cut the visit short. She could not handle ALASKA or Sarah Palin's great outdoors and Kate Gosselin made her kids leave. Here is the funny thing, Kate recently wrote a blog post saying, "She needs to Climb Every Mountain and maybe they need to go hiking in Austria" Kate loves the Sound of Music and she felt it is an uplifting movie. "Kate, honey, you have to be an upbeat person and be willing to make a situation tolerable and even fun when it is feeling like an intolerable moment. If you can't camp with the Palin's, I wouldn't go hiking anywhere and definitely not in Austria."
Therefore, if you want to peek at Sarah check it out. If you hate Sarah, I am sure you will continue to hate Sarah. I, on the other hand, didn't love or hate Sarah and I still don't love or hate Sarah. I do enjoy the show. It makes me want to spend time with my family and get outside. PERIOD. If you like good old REALITY television, watch this past episode with Kate Gosselin and her crew. Kate definitely brings the REALITY drama to Sarah's show. Sarah is definitely the ultimate politician because she delicately spins Kate's bitchiness but Sarah's father says it, "Kate bitched from the moment she stepped off the plane."
