The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills: Charity Cases!
I must admit I like the title of this episode (LOL). I know, I know, I am usually changing it or adding a little something but I am going to leave it alone this week and go with the 'experts' (sarcasm right off the bat).
Okay, so the the title is Charity Cases! Let's roll with it!
This episode opens with Kyle and her training for a 69 mile bike ride up in Napa Valley for Cancer. Kyle is training with Mari Holden, 2000 Olympian, Silver Medal winner!! Pretty awesome to be training with one of the best and yet leave it to women to talk about the important stuff (LOL). You know, not about stamina and how she should be eating and training, NO, she gives the all important advice to get a Major bikini wax. This waxing is suppose to make it more comfortable AND ,c'mon it is 69 flipin miles (LOL) THAT is IMPORTANT (LOL). We of course get to witness the WAXING but I loved the description of what she wanted. Kyle says, "I just want the Dorothy Hamil, really, because I definitely do not want the Telly Savalas" And the waxing technician was giggling. Now, I was wondering how many viewers even knew who those people were?? Then, I figured the Real Housewives demo probably hit in the range that still remember Dorothy Hamil and Telly Savalas but I am sure some of the younger viewers were scratching their heads. Google them, they were famous people once upon a time AND in my youth we truly asked for the 'Dorothy Hamil' haircut. It was all the rage. Now, obviously, Kyle is not of the waxing phenomena 'down there' group. I must admit I am not in that group either, oh, gosh TMI, sorry, but hey, we all just watched a full monty waxing together so I figure we are getting close (LOL).
Next up is Adrienne and Taylor Kick Boxing. This is really Adrienne's scene. Adrienne explains in her voice over that she started doing Kick Boxing for self defense. Of course, Adrienne trains with only the best!!! Kevin Brewerton, World Kickboxing Champion. Such a rough life! *sigh*
Adrienne invites Taylor over to have a lesson with this top notch instructor and Taylor informs us in her interview that as long as she has known Adrienne, Adrienne has always been into kick boxing and martial arts. Taylor pretty much informs us that Adrienne is a little STRONG woman!!!
This scene is where they introduce Taylor's volunteering. Taylor says to Adrienne that kickboxing would be great at "the center" and bingo we get cutaways to Taylor's interviews about her volunteering at the 1736 Crisis Center. Taylor informs us that it is a Center that is a safe haven for those affected by domestic violence. In her interview she announces the Poker Tournament Charity event and the fact that they will be having a celebrity poker player. As they wrap up the boxing lesson and Taylor and Adrienne are walking off Taylor says, "You should come to the charity event, it will be fun" and Adrienne answers, "Yeah, sounds good." We are all set for this charity event!
Next scene, Lisa! Oh, the ole chase the car scene! I know they were really practicing for their driver's license but I really just liked the chasing the car, silly me!! It may have been silly but I got a good giggle out of Lisa making Cedric chase her. Why?? Because haven't we all done that before?? Okay, maybe not ALL of us but I bet Many of you have made someone chase you and you just got a kick out of it?? Oh, and I loved when Lisa said, "I know he needs to move out but who am I going to play with?" Cedric the charity case (LOL)
Kim and Kyle lunching. Sisterly love!! Sometimes I think Kyle likes having Kim around to make her FEEL better, you know, like "Yeah, I am doing it right because I just have to look at my poor pathetic sister." I have to admit I hate when someone asks for advice but then they don't like your advice and then they slam you. Kyle could have said, " You know, I would love to bring the kids but my husband is right and it should be a romantic weekend and those moments are important too. I am just stressing trying to find a sitter." Kim is a little looney but I must agree, what is up with the 'Jimmy Crack Corn'?? I guess Kyle didn't want to say blah, blah, blah. I think Kyle is frustrated with her sister and rightfully so BUT you can't change a person. Kim seems RUDE. Lisa tried. Kim was rude BUT if Martin liked her he would have called. They all need to let it be! The charity fix up was done and over, finito!!
Camille's scene is next. Ugh! Basically it was a simple scene. Camille had a dinner with friends and she wanted their advice. Her mother was the most sensible. A typical mother. Loving and taking her daughter's side BUT she didn't attack Kyle and 'the girls'. She suggested another try and that Camille should offer the olive branch. What I really found interesting was NICK'S behavior. He was not nearly as flirty with Camille and he put his head down when Camille was flirting with him. I wondered if that was because of all the other friends around or because of Camille's mother??? Camille has no shame. But, I guess the important part of the scene is Camille being charitable and willing to offer an Olive Branch (I practically, choked while writing that sentence) (LOL)
Kyle and Mauricio discuss 2 or 3 nights away from the kids??? I raised two kids. We went on long weekends, never a week but long weekends. Honestly, I had no idea what the deal was between 2 nights or 3 nights?? In addition, if you don't do it often then AGAIN, what is the big deal??
Kim and Single Market Guy, Gary! Kim in her interviews crack me up. Singing, "That's my chicken, that's my chicken" I just crack up during her interviews. Kim's interviews are better than her scenes.
Then we head back to Kyle and Mauricio and them having a romantic dinner but man she kills that dinner. Poor Mauricio. When a guy says, "Oh, my God" rolls his eyes and leans back in frustration to having another baby, yeah, it is NO!! Kyle, it is NO!! Listen, women, listen to the man. Oh, I feel for men at times. I did love Mauricio's interview scene of how he negotiates for living and it just kicks in with Kyle but it is a good thing that Kyle thinks he lives by the "Happy wife and Happy life" motto.
Quickly, we swing back to Single Gary. Oh, why are families mean?? I know they think they are funny but do you know how hard that is for someone?? You know when everyone is in on the joke and you are not?? You can tell by their laughs that their is INSIDE jokes going on. Not sure why Kim thought it would be funny to act like she was nursing another person's child but oh, well. Single Gary rolled with it pretty well AND now we know why Kim is SINGLE KIM (LOL). Poor Kim, she is definitely going to be single for a very, very, very, very LONG TIME!!!
Oh, and then poor Lisa had to enter another world, the REAL world. Lisa had to LEAVE her bubble to take her driving test, well the written part. Of course, an odd person, is well, odd with Lisa and she does her best to avoid. I thought she did a pretty good job by just claiming the need to study. Lisa passes and Cedric fails. Who is surprised by this turn of events??? Yeah, none of us, right?? Neither is Lisa (LOL)
Taylor's crisis scene is next. I go on the record NOW!! I don't like Taylor BUT I, of course, feel bad she experienced hell in her youth. I do think that she needs therapy. It explains more about her but it doesn't excuse her. I am person that believes you can't go through life excusing your behavior away because of your past. I don't think Taylor has ever truly handled her past correctly and it is affecting her life today. The director of 1736 Crisis center decides to capitalize on Taylor and her Bravo connections!! She asks Taylor to walk the red carpet and talk because she is long standing member??? Nope. She wants to use Taylor's exposure, which is fine. It is clear that Taylor is a longtime member but it is her connection with BRAVO that made the Crisis Center want her on the RED CARPET and wanting her to give a speech. Oh, and I don't blame them. Every small center would love the exposure but Taylor would never have been on the carpet or giving a speech if it wasn't for her BEING A REAL HOUSEWIFE. Period.
Now, it is time for Kyle and Mauricio to do the bicycle race for the cancer charity event. We watch Kyle struggle and she informs us that her mother is her strength.
Unfortunately, We then cutaway to Camille heading off to run on the beach with friends. This is where Camille discusses with her friend that she is unsure of her living situation with her husband. In interviews Camille further informs us that Kelsey wants to stay in New York and Camille loves L.A. She states that Kelsey feels his career is over in L.A. and he is more appreciated in New York??? Oh, boy, I am sure all kinds of red flags were going up for this wife. I do not like Camille but there is nothing worse for a wife and mother than starting to wonder about what your husband is up to.
Now, this scene, the running on the beach was a little forced. All the "I love running on the beach" was getting old and it felt very staged.
We get through the staged or forced scene and we get to witness the ending of the bicycle race. It was great!!! Kyle admitted she was exhausted and Mauricio admitted it was a wonderful experience. Both, Kyle and Mauricio talked about how the weekend was great!! It was romantic, fun and they accomplished something together. Every couple needs that from time to time. To be friends again!! To get away from the stresses of everyday life and the roles of parenting and just be friends and lovers!!!
Last but not least the Poker Tournament! First the car ride over. Russell and Taylor, the business partners. Why was Taylor shocked by his statement?? These two do not have a marriage and she seems to blame it all on him?? I think Taylor forgets there are TWO in a marriage. Russell was speaking like a business partner and that is exactly how she described her marriage to Kyle. Now, as husband, he should have been concerned about her speech BUT Taylor should have turned to him and ASKED him to focus on that and give her support. He can't read her mind. It takes TWO to make a marriage work. If they started the marriage as business partners then Taylor can't bitch about things now. She chose to SETTLE!!
Taylor doesn't seem to like all the ladies. I mean she will discuss marriage problems with Kyle but not have her at a charity event??? She knew this was airing so not sure what she meant about NOT sharing it with everyone?? Worse, did you notice?? I am pretty sure it was the first time her husband heard about her horrible childhood?? Russell looked shocked. Honestly, that guy shows little emotion and he looked shocked. THIS is why she has no marriage!! OH, AND she hasn't built a life?? Hell, no!! She gave up love and friendship and a soulmate AND married a business partner to avoid domestic abuse. Beverly Hills doesn't make LIFE all better. Honestly, I wouldn't trade my life for Taylor's for all her money in the world. I have the most loving, wonderful, husband of 23 years and that is success. Not MONEY. Well, I guess for me.
On a side note: I did like that the two charities were REAL! Meaning, Kyle was just partaking in a charity event like anyone of us can and would do. Taylor's was real too. She definitely has been with the Crisis Center for a while and she was not running the event she was just attending and they asked her to fulfill some roles. These felt way more organic than some other charity events on other Housewives series!
