The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills: Mothering Styles

posted by RF Club, Group AdministratorFriday, November 5th 2010 @ 11:37 PM (not yet rated)

This episode of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills was a chance for us to see the other mothers of the series in action.  I feel that Kim Richards parenting has been explored from the get as it should have been since Kim stated that it was her MAIN gig and therefore Bravo ZEROED in on it.  We have seen Kim and her sister, Kyle discuss Kim's parenting in several episodes.

Poor Taylor Armstrong.  I do believe she comes off looking like the Moron mother.  Diamonds for a 4 year old and the adult birthday party was a flop.  It goes to show you that you can spend $50,000.00 and still have a sad little child. Although, Dad fixed the sadness with the puppy! The problem was Taylor threw a party for TAYLOR and not for a 4 year old.  I do think Taylor should be seeking out a good divorce lawyer.  Parents who are in competition over gift giving, um, what is that??  Don't parents give a gift together and then Taylor was jealous that Russell got the better gift??  Neither gift was appropriate for a FOUR year old but what kid wouldn't want a PUPPY over a DIAMOND necklace??  Kids never ever want jewelry or clothes.  Taylor is lacking in serious mom skills.  You have to be able to relate to your child at their age.  I mean a 4 year old upscale, lady like birthday party, geez, talk about a FOUR YEAR OLD'S nightmare!  Oh, wait and we mustn't forget the best friend's statement of Taylor being the "BEST HANDS ON MOMMY!!"  Hey, Dumbo, Hands on is a mother who is WITH THE CHILD and not sending it off to the NANNY to be pushed on the swing while MOMMY gets photographed before the party starts.  I pushed my own kids while swinging!!!

Onto something more touching.  We meet Lisa VanderPump's two children tonight.  Her daughter, Pandora is the overachiever and succeeding child.  Her son, Max is struggling and on top of it he is adopted.  Lisa informs us she had to do something very difficult but what many mother's are unwilling to do.  Lisa has sacrificed her pride and needs to put her son's NEEDS first.  They have sent him to a school in Idaho and he is staying with his godmother in hopes that he will straighten out.  Kudos for using their money in the correct way and doing what is best for their son.  I understand why Lisa is scared for Max to come back and surround himself in an environment that is conducive to his destructive behavior.  I hope it works out for this young man and Lisa.  Her birthday luncheon was touching and so was the meal she cooked.  Funny, how you don't have to spend a shit load of money to be happy.

Oh, and then there is Camille!  No shots with her and the kids.  Hell no.  She has to take two nannies and a house manager on vacation in Hawaii because Camille works HARD. (sarcasm)
I think all we hear over and over from Camille is that she SAVED Kelsey Grammer.  Hey, that is great.  I am sure he appreciates it BUT, he is the actor, he made the money.  In addition, we hear, "With Kelsey being gone it is time for me to shine, take control, be empowered and it is freeing."  I am thinking there were problems in THAT MARRIAGE long before he cheated.  I don't believe in CHEATING.  Kelsey should have divorced her BUT make no mistake that marriage was dying.  Obviously her JESUS complex didn't help her in realizing her marriage was dying and she should have been focusing on her and Kelsey.

Kyle Richards comes off looking pretty good in this episode even though she spent 12,000.00 for her child's birthday party.  I mean think about that for a moment??  TWELVE THOUSAND DOLLARS for her two year old's birthday party??  That is unreal.  I will credit Kyle with making it all about the kids and no alcohol.  I find it funny that Kyle claims she is her own person in a town of phonies and yet she still had the $12,000.00 birthday party.  Not sure if I believe she is HER OWN PERSON.  I am thinking Kyle caves to PEER PRESSURE just like the rest of us.

Adrienne Maloof was such the calm and laid back mother! (sarcasm)  Oh, my gosh I laughed through her entire scene.  Ms. Maloof is like all mothers.  We lose our patience at times and she got caught on camera losing her patience.  Unfortunately, she claimed she was the more patient and laid back of the two parents.  The scene Bravo chose to share with the viewers was the complete opposite.  Now, Adrienne wasn't horrible but she is by no means Miss laid back going with the flow mommy.

Some side notes:  I am getting sick of Adrienne's totally politically correct statements.  Say what you mean and mean what you say.  I would respect Adrienne better if she said, "The birthday party was beautiful but it was not a kid's birthday party and it was too lavish for a four year old."    That is why I respect Lisa.  We all know were she stood on each party. She says what thinks and she is not overly mean or rude but she does not hedge!
Oh, and Taylor's comment about Lisa spending her money on shoes and not her kids.  I am not believing that for a minute.  Taylor is missing the whole point of life.  It isn't how much you SPEND on your children.  It is how much TIME you spend with your children and if you can relate to your children.  As Lisa said, "What happened to 'pin the tale on the donkey'?"  Meaning, where were the kids games?  The children were bored out of their minds and Taylor had kids mimicking adults drinking.  How inappropriate.  I would have yanked my child out of the party.

Who is your favorite RHOBH'S?  Do you dislike one?  Any of them sitting on the fence??
I would love to know what you are thinking!!

Lisa VanderPump is my FAVORITE on this series. And she absolutely did the right thing for her son Max.
