Dancing With The Stars: I'm trying!

posted by RF Club, Group AdministratorWednesday, September 22nd 2010 @ 10:01 PM (not yet rated)

I decided to watch Dancing With The Stars for the first time in years.  I am talking many, many years ago. Last time I watched was Season Three with Jerry Springer.

Anyways, I decided I would give it a try.  I am not sure how long that 'try' will last.  There is a reason Season Three was my last Season!

Here is the line up for Season 11 (and I am not sure how this is Season 11?? Season Three was in 2006, please explain the math?)  Oh, well back to the line up.  Courtesy ABC.com

Audrina Patridge "The Hills Hottie" with partner Tony Dovolani
Brandy"R&B's Platinum Girl" with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Bristol Palin"Alaska's Most Famous Daughter" w/partner Mark Ballas
David Hasselhoff"The Hoff" with partner Kym Johnson
Florence Henderson"America's Mom" with partner Corky Ballas
Jennifer Grey"The Original Dirty Dancer" with partner Derek Hough
Kurt Warner"The Superbowl Success Story" w/partner Anna Trebunskaya
Kyle Massey"Disney Channel Dynamo" with partner Lacey Schwimmer
Margaret Cho"Comedy's Most Outrageous" w/partner Louis Van Amstel
Michael Bolton"The Balladeer" with partner Chelsie Hightower
Mike Sorrentino"The Situation" with partner Karina Smirnoff
Rick Fox"Basketball's Foxiest Champion" w/partner Cheryl Burke

Of course, die hard Dancing With The Star fans  know that David Hasselhoff is gone.  I have no argument with his axing.  He sucked.  He goofed off and he deserved the boot.  Although, I must admit I would have had no problem with Margaret Cho or Mike Sorrentino getting the boot and for the exact same reasons.  They were the three in the bottom.  Oh, they deserved the bottom.

Oh, and we know how it works with Dancing With The Stars, the fans get a a huge say and I mean FANS in the true sense of the word.  It is not about THE FANS deciding on DANCE.  It is the FANS who are the best at dialing in for their celebrity.  David Hasselhoff's FAN BASE just couldn't pull it out for him!!!

I guess this is why I have stopped watching Dancing With The Stars.  Yes, it has always been FAN BASED but at least in the beginning the DANCING was taken seriously and even the FANS had some care about DANCING.  Now, Dancing With The Stars is a huge production show and THE DANCING has gotten lost.

It use to be fun to watch STARS actually take the DANCING serious and to try with all their HEART AND SOUL to try and do the DANCE.  This no longer seems to be the case.  It seems now that celebrities (they lost STARS after season One, I think) want to use the show as a vehicle to JUMP START their career.  Therefore, it is no longer about the Dancing.  These celebrities just need to get on the show and perform to get attention.

In addition, I don't like the elimination show.  All that hype and singing.  I love finding out on Twitter.  I really just want to know who gets axed.  I will watch the original night of Dancing and then log onto Twitter to find out who gets the boot!

What I have concluded is that I enjoyed the dancers that took THE DANCING seriously.  Surprisingly, I found that most of the celebrities did and it showed.  They may have struggled but that didn't matter.  I think that is why Jerry Springer did pretty well in the third season and yes eventually he was voted off.  He knew it would happen.  He was by far the worse dancer but he tried week after week and the fans responded to his effort with keeping him around for as long as they could.

Onto my favorites.  My top two are Kyle Massey and Bristol Palin!  I know Kyle Massey had the locker stuff but it wasn't meant to distract or hide dancing I really think they thought it enhanced the dance, it was a mistake but not meant as tongue and cheek.  Bristol Palin totally shocked me!

I know the judges went gaga over Brandy and yes, I enjoyed her performance but I can't explain it, I just wasn't moved like the judges!!

Okay, so who are your favorites and did you agree with the Hasselhoff cut??
