We all know that the Real Housewives started with the Real Housewives of Orange County. Now most of us watch because the women are suppose to be wealthy. We want to see how they live. Let's face it we want a glimpse into those gated communities. Now, we don't mind seeing that they have to work hard for their money or they might like a bargain here or there like the rest of us but we watch mainly because we want to see them live lavishly. PERIOD. Oh, and we don't mind seeing them encounter drama too!! Orange County set the bar. New York City followed. Bravo included a couple from Brooklyn but this couple was the 'yuppie' couple of the 2000's. You know the couple that is in a community that is on the edge of the wealth and they are trying make their own community nicer. We all know Brooklyn will never be Manhattan but the couple had some bucks and they spent their money on clothes, renovating their home and trips. We enjoyed watching them spend and create an upscale home even if it was in Brooklyn. Atlanta came along and these women played the spend money game too but this is when things began to turn for Bravo. Atlanta was the first inkling of some trouble but not a lot, yet. We heard some grumblings about Nene Leakes and it came out she rented her home. Then Lisa Wu Hartwell's husband was no longer a football player and he made it clear that life was going to change for them. Sheree Whitfield had more stability because she was fighting for her money (LOL). We never did hear her settlement figure but something tells me she is doing okay, maybe not the seven figures she wanted but she is not as bad off as some other housewives.
Where I am going with all this rambling on about the Housewives and their money? Here is where I am going!
I don't really care if these women are rich BUT, here comes the BIG BUT I do care what I am being SOLD by BRAVO as REALITY television. At some point something has to give. We, the viewers have been led to believe we are going to be entertained by following the lives of well off HOUSEWIVES from different cities. First, we let Bravo sell us a bill of goods with defining the term Housewife. We, the viewers took it. HOUSEWIFE implies you are married. I am sorry, any way you cut it. THE WORD WIFE means you are married. Now, they somehow tried to justify divorced mothers as a housewife??? How?? I'm not even sure. Something about running a home and that is a housewife and la ti da! And, then I have no idea how they got away with a single woman? I think running a home again??? WTF?? I know Bethenny Frankel is a favorite but I do think most of you would agree that she really should not have ever been on Real Housewives of New York City. She never, ever was a wife? (LOL) My point is Bravo has been pulling the wool over our eyes from day one.
Now, I wonder how far they will go??
Bravo no longer provides us with wealthy women. For that matter, they do not even provide us with well off or financially sound women. I feel like we are getting a bunch of desperate women who need these shows to survive. Tamara Barney clearly is in financial trouble and I found it interesting that she dumped Simon when things went sour for him. Gretchen Rossi has no money and she found out after Jeff's death that he didn't have a dime either, it was all smoke and mirrors. We all watched what happened to Lynne Curtin but for some reason Bravo has dumped her. Once again, fan favorite Bethenny Frankel had no money and without Real Housewives of New York City Bethenny would still be a chef for celebrities. Yes, she worked but she stated, honestly, that she had very little money. I think Alex McCord and Simon van Kempen were better off than Bethenny when they started the show.?? The Real Housewives of New Jersey, well, we have just watched and that means we all pretty much know Teresa Giudice and her financial troubles. Why does Bravo continue to keep her on the show? A season three for the Giudice's? What a sham? It certainly was insinuated from day one that Danielle Staub had money troubles!
Second, I am sick of the fact that Bravo will not step up to the plate an admit when they pay for trips and such. We know Ramona Singer might have money but she would never in her right mind spend her money on that kind of trip for that group of ladies!!! Let's be honest! Ramona could barely stomach Kelly. The season before she was not that fond of Alex and even if they were becoming friendly, really that kind of trip for someone you are becoming friendly with??? The same with Bethenny. In addition she just hooked back up with Sonja Morgan (because of the show) Therefore, there is no way anyone would lay out that kind of money for that group of people, nope. We all have friends, we all know how we spend our money, c'mon ladies be honest. We would do it only for our closest of closest friends!
Oh and BRAVO listen, Please Please Listen I am over THE BRANDING!!!!
I mean, Bethenny driving around town in her Skinny Girl car, wearing her Skinny Girl paraphernalia and her gift baskets with all her Skinny Girl stuff on the trip was getting old! Bethenny Frankel and Vicki Gunvalson really marketed themselves to death on the shows. Oh, and we all know ZARIN FABRICS (LOL). Poor Ramona, she said Renewal a thousand times but not sure that was her branding (ha!ha!) Now, we can't leave Atlanta out, She by Sheree, failed, but we heard it until we wanted to die. Oh, and all the songs and books. Listen, I understand THE HOUSEWIVES wanting to jump start themselves and they claim it is part of their life but there has to be a balance! I am begging for some balance!!!
So can you tell, I am starting to get a little tired of Bravo Reality. I want some disclosures!!! In addition, I want them to go back to some basics. Find us women who DON"T need BRAVO. Find us women who have money and want to do REALITY for fun and yeah, if they make some extra money on the side, great! I am over these hour long infomercials! I am tired of reading blogs that are even worse;they are nothing but advertisements.
Now, someone else seems to be pissed off with Bravo and she is tweeting. Oh and she is just not pissed at Bravo. She also seems to be ticked off with two women in particular. Teresa Giudice and Danielle Staub are her targets. But take a look at her tweets. But I do think she is also making a point to Bravo!
Kim Granatell got mad. Her tweets changed at the end of July. She started to go after Teresa Giudice and then when the "square tits" episode aired she went after Danielle Staub too but I believe there is more to her tweeting. Kim Granatell is throwing it in Bravo's face that she is financially sound and she does live lavishly! Not sure if she thinks this will get her on the show or she is just flat out mad?

I think it might be interesting if Bravo added Kim Granatell to the mix. She isn't afraid to speak her mind and it is nice that she isn't in love with all the players!!! Oh, and I know people were complaining about her bragging tweets but really she is not bragging anymore than any of the other Housewives and so far her bank account has held up!! Like I said, I think there is more to her tweets than meets the eye!
