Flipping Out: The Setup

posted by RF Club, Group AdministratorThursday, August 12th 2010 @ 3:47 PM (not yet rated)

Flipping Out

Well, Jeff Lewis and the gang are back!  I enjoy Flipping Out and yet, I know that I could never in a million years work for Jeff Lewis.  He is beyond unreasonable but he makes for great television.  Jeff Lewis says the most inappropriate remarks to his employees and yet for some reason they stay.  We, the audience, laugh.  We want to believe he has a heart.  We see tiny glimpses of a soft side to Jeff Lewis and I think this is what keeps us from hating him. I mean otherwise, it would be hard to like Jeff at times!

This season starts with Jeff Lewis enjoying the company of a baby.  Now, writing that sentence was as odd as watching Jeff be delightful with that baby.  Be honest, how many of you were surprised that Jeff did not mind his house manager, Jett, having his child at work?  I mean, Jeff even said, "if need be the child could come again."  Yep, I was stunned!  I thought, Gee, therapy has been doing wonders for Jeff Lewis but as the episode rolls out we realize it isn't therapy at all that is loosening Jeff, nope it is drinking (LOL).

We quickly are informed that Ryan and Jeff are no longer business partners or friends and the reason why.  It is insinuated that Jeff was correct about Ryan and the website problems of last year because once Jeff Lewis took control of his own website his business boomed.  Jeff informs us that people also told him that when they called  'Brown Design' (Ryan's business) and they asked for Jeff they got misdirected.  Of course, we do not have Ryan's side of the story and he did deny it last season BUT it is a little odd that Jeff Lewis was hurting for business when Ryan had control of the website and now Jeff's business is booming? But, we as the viewers only have Jeff's side and we can only come to our conclusions from a tainted view.

Now, we are off and running with Jeff Lewis and crew!  We find out that Jeff is trying to be more patient.  He likes Sarah Berkman, the sister of his sister-in-law, and feels she is trustworthy because of the family connection but he states that she makes a lot of mistakes.  We all know Jeff Lewis.  Sarah is in trouble.  We didn't see a meltdown with her this episode but it is coming, you could feel it throughout the show.  Jeff is Jeff.  Poor Trace, Trace James Lehnoff is just trying to get through school, work and deal with Jeff Lewis.  Trace knows that Jeff will be a great reference but sometimes you can tell Trace is thinking, "Will this ever end?"  and "How much abuse do I have to put up with?"  I felt bad for him sitting in the back seat listening to Jeff rant about who he needed to cut.  You know,It is always fun listening to your boss tell you he only wants employees that make him money.  Trace was thinking, "Shit, do I make him money??"  Or "Is this just another one of his freak outs?"

Of course, we love Jenni Pulos and Zoila Chavez but something is up with these two ladies.  Jenni is working less for Jeff. We are not told why Jenni is working less, I guess we should assume her acting career is beginning to bloom? On the other hand,  Zoila wants to break free and we are informed she doesn't leave the house at all and Jeff drills her if she tries. It was funny when  Zoila was asking about the details of a Brazilian wax; I thought Trace was going to die!

I enjoyed the first episode. You start to catch on with Bravo reality shows. It was the setup and catch up episode.    Jeff Lewis's business is booming. We meet a couple clients, gee I wonder who is going to drive Jeff nuts?? Jeff is stressing and he is unsure of which staff members he really needs, Sarah is there all the time but makes a lot of mistakes.   Jenni is not around much and out of the loop plus has a boyfriend all things Jeff is not happy about!   Trace is still in school and that is his main priority, imagine that?  Zoila is itching to have her 'me' time!  'Happy Hour' is happening a lot but at least Jett makes the perfect presentation with those drinks so what more could you ask for in a house manager?  Nothing too major happened, And we still see Jeff is Jeff, Happy Hour hasn't completely changed him(LOL).   Jeff is still anal with cleaning; checking his woodwork.  He still has all his animals.  It was fun watching Zoila clean it up the cat poop out of the tub. Read that with sarcasm please.  What is it with Bravo and animal feces?

Anyways, from the clips we can tell that Jeff Lewis will have his meltdowns or as Bravo likes to say, "Jeff Lewis is Flipping Out" and he looks like he doesn't disappoint as the season continues!
